I mean a lot of black folks have high blood pressure or high sugar. I think he might’ve been doing too much at his age but I get the impression there were no symptoms before and he probably felt like he was fine. But at the same time I refuse to believe he had no warnings in the days and weeks before.

His story is an old one. Men die before women for two reasons: we ignore warning signs, and we work ourselves to death trying to live up to other peoples expectations.

I've known other people whose fathers and granfathers didn't live to see 65. If youre working hard as hell, allowing women to stress you out, and not sleeping deeply and taking time for yourself, it will catch up to you. Everything comes with a price. He sacrificed his health for his career like many of us do.


Its why I don't buy into the man as breadwinner thing that people hold onto. My father's own health suffered while he tried to hold down the family. The man was almost never home and when he was, he was exhausted. He tried to put on a brave face but I could tell he was hurting inside. We all saw it but he tried to stay quiet and not trouble us.

I'd rather have had a dad who was home than one who had to retire early and go to the hospital multiple times. shyt is traumatic and no man should have to live like that if he has a choice. I absolutely refuse to pair up with a woman who won't work. I'm not trying to be dead before 60 or feel like a burden on my family(whether its actually true or not, you still FEEL like a burden)

Looks like he led a pretty sedentary lifestyle sitting around for hours doing all those shows. Mixing that with a bad diet is a recipe for disaster. By the time he realized it was probably too late to rectify. I seen so many dudes in IT dropping dead prematurely because of this.
