It's inevitable, there's a good dozen people that for sure won't get their contracts renewed. Cage probably saw himself as a main eventer, was brought in to be one, couldn't capitalize, was turned face, couldn't capitalize, is probably pissed off that he's about to lose a feud to Starks a guy that has gone over unlike him.
It's fine, some will be mad and disappointed, it's the nature of the business, same goes for sports teams getting upgrades at certain positions, tough luck homie, better luck elsewhere.

Brian Cage looks like a million bucks and can do insane spots but is charisma and personality deficient. I thought him with Taz made a lot of sense

AEW didn't want team Tazz to get too big. Same way they hurried and split up Eddie Kingston squad. They favor certain stables.
