Durant is signed for 4 years (basically the rest of his career), Kawhi was on his last year

and how doesnt one title matter? Masai would make a trade for KD ine a heartbeat if he knew he was getting a title year one

As @papa surf already mentioned the amount of years left on a star players contract means nothing when shyt changes and they can ask out at any point and time.

and we've already seen Masai make a move like this knowing it could blow up after one season, so I think we already know hes willing to take the chance it could blow up for a better chance at winning another ring

It's a completely different situation considering the fact that Raptors team had already peaked with Derozan and Lowry before they made that Kawhi move. Just because that situation worked out perfectly once before doesn't mean that situation will happen again especially with how strong the East is now.

Even if they were to make that trade, you'd have to give up so many assets that they wouldn't even be close to being a championship contender with him on the roster.

No star will ever sign with Brooklyn in free agency after this - so they gotta get a big time player back, including the picks
Why wouldnt brooklyn get that back? Pg went for a lot and durant much better sith a 4 year conttact

:camby:
If you have a chance to get KD for Scottie Barnes you do it
Scottie had a nice rookie year but people need to fukking relax acting like this dude was rookie Shaq or Duncan where he dominated the entire league from day 1.
They got a chance to have a big 3 of KD, Siakam and FVV and contend
And the "oh but he can change his mind" thing doesn't really matter as he's signed for 4 years unlike Kawhi when he got there. If he wants to leave teams will be forced to give you assets to get him

Whos to say he wont ask out again? Then you end up with the nets situation (harden trade)? Its a huge gamble regardless

I literally addressed it in the post
If he asks out again teams still need to give you assets to get him
It might not be equal to what you sent to get him but you don't lose him for nothing

I don't even understand the reasoning behind this. If it's about Tsai rumors or whatever, Miami gets praised for "culture" all the time. Nets try the same after letting Kyrie & KD run the show and it's they'll have to pull nikkas off the subway and put em in jerseys now

I think it's more likely and recognized that the Nets tried to make it work with three of the weirdest nikkas to ever make 100 million playing basketball. We've been down way worse than this, for obvious reasons they want to stay competitive after a KD trade. We'll be just fine.

Yeah, it would obviously be a win now move and of course it could flop but taking that chance is often worth it, as we saw with Kawhi. This mentality the Nets owner talked about saying he'd rather have a hard working 40 win team that gets bounced out in the playoffs every year is counterproductive IMO. You play the game to win.

The situation was the perfect one with things all fell into place mainly with Bron leaving to go to the West. They're not replicating that. Tsai doesn't fukk with basketball in the way that Masai does of course he's going to have different viewpoint. People forget those hit pieces talking about him and how shrewd of a human being he is and he's bringing that same mindset over to basketball.

What stars wanted to come to Brooklyn before Kyrie and KD? This crash and burn just made it even less desirable. If the top player in the league is asking out of a 4 yr deal, no elite player will go near organization.. Kinda like before -- Kyrie wanted to put them on the map
