Watch Bernard King back to back 50 point games.

I don’t wanna hear shyt about difference in the 80s. We had to wait for VHS cassette to be mailed to the team facility to know what offense teams were running

I think players like Charles Barkley and Shaq changed the game from the back down rule to the hack a shaq that eventually led to zones. The game is still physical just not as brutal. I think the game has more spacing which allows more shooting. On top of that more stretch 4s. Guys like Dirk KG and Rasheed Wallace really showed taller dudes they could stretch the floor which eliminated a lot of contact

A good thing is the average career is longer now cause they not being beat up every other night and the advanced in technology has helped the athlete sustain and play longer.

Just look at the game in the early 00s, it was still a lot more physical then compared to now. We're seeing players get 1 game suspensions over bullshyt nowadays.

I see both sides.

That era was more physical but that was the game. You cant apply the culture of one era to the one before or after it. It stands on its own.

But also when you strip away the allowance of the defender to man handle you, the game progress to a more skillful/finesse type game. More pleasing to the senses.

The stripes also play a big factor. These zebra muthafukkas do really be messing up/ controlling the game.

The hockey goons are gone from hockey. Guys like Marty McSorley and Ty Domi were like contract killers who just happened to ice skate. Now it’s just a lot of speed skating fancy pants…Those were the days…
:mjcry:

Breh I caught a game a few days ago and the shyt didn't hit at all :francis: .

Each time a hockey player would check another one, the dude would be like "no after you":ehh:

Like why these dudes not beating the breaks off of each other :why:

He’s speaking facts as he generally does

But I will say for sure there are more ridiculous calls now, rip through, jump backs on floaters, jumping into a planted defender, harden’s neck snap on floater etc.

Unacceptable

John Stockton used to hook his arm around a defender's arm and then pretend he was getting pulled when he tried to dribble away.

Reggie Miller used to flail his legs out coming around a screen and hope to get contact with something, then fall down like a puppet that had its strings dropped.

World B. Free and Reggie Miller both used to fake defenders into the air and then jump into them.

Bill Laimbeer and Dennis Rodman used to repeatedly hit guys dirty, then flop like crazy with a matching scream if they pushed back at all. Laimbeer once drew 12 fouls in a single finals game.

Danny Ainge was a legendary flopper and whiner too.

Vlade Divac was so famous for flopping that he made an instructional video on it.

I agree that some of the flopping techniques are more sophisicated now. Harden and Trae are more polished floppers. But that's just because the talent pool is deeper now and they've had the chance to learn from past masters. Modern ballers are better at everything.

This wasnt even a foul. Bill had to man the fukk up

On the other end, you could post hours of video of MJ getting touch foul calls that clearly weren't a foul, and there were Finals games decided on phantom whistles.

People always seem to ignore that they called way more fouls back then than they do now. Free throws have dropped like 40%. I think MJ averaged around 12-15 FTA in something like 10 different playoff series. They didn't just "let them play".

I'll take flagrant fouls over this :hubie:

I checked the box score for Hawks - Wiz game last night, no way was I gonna watch that trash, and saw Trae had a 18 free throw night :hhh:
