He wasn't a rogue cop, that was a policing strategy from the top down. A simple google search shows all the human right investigations into Kenyan police brutality, over a 1000 ppl have been killed by police in Nairobi alone in the last decade. It's a known issue and I don't trust them to suddenly change in a volatile place like Haiti

These dudes want to live in a pan africanist utopia.

Importing a corrupt police force into a volatile situation will not help anything.

Above the fray.
they're not smart on here
No, I don't have a problem with him or his comment. He expanded on his point. I just disagree and pointed out the reasons why. We can have respectful disagreements.

Also, international forces are coming in because the country is not equipped to handle public safety around the capital city. Black people being terrorized by gangs is not a laughing matter. Nothing related to this story is funny or jokeworthy.

the fact so many people didn't even know Kenya's history it's not even worth going back and forth

This article highlighted an underrated point that the Kenyan police don't speak French or creole :mjlol:

I wish the people of Haiti luck and hope something changes for the better soon

They really need a brigade of Black American troops or police to go in there but that would be non- politically correct.

This is just a stupid argument. In which country in the world is police brutality not a problem? How are the American police? All peaches and cream over there?

Kenya stepped up because nobody else wanted to get into the Haiti mess. It's infact an indictment that not one country in the entire Americas is stepping up to help Haiti. It's pathetic

Above the fray.
Anything involving an Africa country

Thecoli: "but but but..."
Yeah, I see that the "bu bu but Kenyans don't speak French" line that reporters have written has been repeated here.

1) International troops and police travel to countries all the time, including American troops. Rarely if ever does the language barrier get brought up. Reporters wouldn't write "but American forces don't speak (insert local language)", but with a straight face will mention this here

2) Haitians generally speak Kreyol, not French. Some speak French, but everybody speaks Haitian Kreyol. Writers who are covering Haiti in the media should at least be aware of that.

3) As in every other situation with outside forces as part of international effort, translators will be hired. Likely Haitian diasporans, or people from Guadeloupe, Martinique, or St. Lucia where they speak similar version of the language. Again, this would be a common practice, especially when English speaking forces like Americans go to non English speaking country. Writers just don't question or "bu bu but" when it's white people, just Africans.
