Just in regards to some of the comments in the thread:
For those saying Kendrick owes Drake for puttin him on, well yeah he had Kendrick open for his tour which did help get him exposure, but it ain't like Kendrick was some random unknown, "Hiiipower Power" was getting a major response and K.Dot already had the Dr Dre co-sign. By the time the tour started Kendrick was already one of the most talked about new artist. Plus he gave Drake a spot on his own album so what more do y'all want him to do?
For those saying "how is he salty, he didn't bring it up, he's just answering the question", well he is salty in the way he answers the question. First he tries to downplay it on some "came and gone" shyt (even though they still asking about it so obviously it hasn't quite gone yet). Then he tries to deflect on some "don't expect features from none of the named artists" instead of just speaking his own mind about how he personally feels about it (the other artist didn't seem to take if to heart).
The fact that he took it so personally that he won't work with dude no more shows how salty he is. All this "well I coulda did that but I don't wanna hurt my friendships" shyt is weak. Drake is the only one who took it that way. Dude is overly sensitive. Plus ain't this the same guy talking bout "no new friends". It ain't like he grew up with Kendrick. He coulda said "fukk Kendrick, I took him on tour, put him on my album, gave him exposure and this the thanks I get". Yeah he still would be taking it personal but at least then he would be responding like he got a little bit of testosterone.
If it really came and went why is he taking it so personal. It wasn't even really a dis like that. And even if he takes it as a dis, his only response is "I wouldn't have did that, friendship is more important". It seems to me that Drake knows he doesn't really have that much of a claim in hip hop and he scared to get his pass revoked by getting into it with a real MC. And Kendrick is a Compton Blood who gets respect from both street rappers and backpackers, so he about as real as it gets. He can't play the "he old and irrelevant" card this time, Kendrick is younger than Drake. And he don't wanna take it as "it's hip hop it's about competition" because he scared to compete with a real rapper. So instead he just take it personal and is just gonna leave it at that. Smh
Edit: damn just looked at how long my response is, I feel like a fukking lame
*cracks knuckles*
Now ltets get some destruction started shall we
Now what was exactly salty about the way he answered the question??
Lemme sum up the answer he gave
He basically said Control came and went which is evident by the stop in Control responses
He said taking that "Im against everyone in this sht" approach so early in ya career may hurt him cuz the people will then have an unreasonable expectation of u being this "anti" guy and if not ppl will turn their back on u
He even said Kdot is good enough that he'll recover from that tho
And the comment bout ppl not workin with him after that is based on how it'll look if ur collabin with a dude who ur supposed to be "murdering" career wise when colabs are a "help me and i help u" situation
What in this is salty??
Everything Drake said in response to the question is accurate and honest
Now lemme tackle these assumptions bout Drake being scared??
Drake has had more battles on wax than Kdot so what sense does that make??
Drake also made note that he expected Kdot to be on some Live rara confrontational sht when they met in the vmas but he was still his humble self
Drake responding to such a desperate attention cry only further legitimizes kdot and his claims if drake were to call kdot worth of a namedrop
Drake has the same right kdot has to basically dismiss that sht with a "Gotta try harder"
And that IS what he did
Drake knows kdot's game and recognizes all those publicity stunts and antics dnt give u longevity
Drake studied the game and he's passin in this sht
Kdot still got alot to learn
