Kendrick's performance went
over most of you cats heads.
From a Black uncle sam
(Thee Samuel Jackson!!!) telling
him to tone it down, stop being
loud,ghetto and play the game,
dissin trump to his face by saying ya'll picked the right
time but wrong guy (fukk trump)
the stage being a game controller, did all b sides,
Black hood dancers,wearing an a-minor
chain and then doing (they not like us)
with the entire crowd screaming A-MINOR!!!
to the entire country.

Drake fans have pink diaries with
pencils with the feather tips
and the little keys that lock em.

The show was corny. Lyrical miracle rap was weak when NY had it but now since Kendrick doing it, it’s the best thing since wonder bread.

If it were me and I’m burying Drake, im performing my hits and letting the world know who I am but this guy got on there and gave Drake free promo during his biggest moment.

Kendrick is a good MC but not Super Bowl halftime show worthy. If they was serious about having a Legacy act up there Wu Tang Clan would have been better.

Told yall that Kendrick is a mediocre artist

GKMC is a classic, but pretty much everything else he's put out has been mid

I mean let's not go too far :whoa:

Section 80 through DAMN is impeccable stuff.

Mr Morales... Eh.

GNC: cool, but not groundbreaking

But he's put too much quality out to be classified as mediocre. He's one of the greats. That had a mid Super Bowl show

I thought Dre and Snoop rocked the place when they did it in 2022. I may be wrong though, but I remember the reception was glowing with people practically begging Dre to do one more Up in Smoke tour. Maybe I need to go back and watch that HTS again.
That’s what I’m saying. That performance received universal acclaim. Dre, Snoop and co, all brought their A-Game. They showed you how to bring HipHop to a stadium. Although, they’re 30/40 year veterans so I didn’t expect any less.

Kendrick is like the Beyonce of HipHop: they’re infallible and any criticism of them means you’re a sellout or CAC. Just because its “pseudo” pro-black, it doesn’t mean you can’t be honest.

It’s ok to say Beyonce won AOTY for her weakest album because her husband whined the year before. It’s ok to say that Kendrick’s performance was mid even with its “black” themes. It’s ok to say OJ definitely murdered those CACs.

Admitting the damn obvious isn’t an indictment on our pro-blackness.

I've never seen a superbowl performance where people didn't complain. It's a big pot of people with different taste watching it so it's never going to be universally loved. This was a better performance than most years. The only ones hating are old boomers and Drake stans
I still kinda agree with this. He did more with it and had more thought to it than most performances. People act like most of these performances arent just soulless karoake's of popular hits.

So I'll give him that, I actually cared about what he was doing, which is more than I could say for most.

It was more an artisitic demonstration for tge television, hence why the crowd wasnt as live.

Not gonna lie… half time show was huff as shyt…

I never really expect much from ANY Super Bowl halftime show but yeah I was disappointed.

Acoustics sucked, couldn’t hear half his lyrics, shyt was dry, it didn’t really bang, song selection wasn’t it

Most entertaining part was the fact he cracked a joke about people liking to “sue” and doing part of Not Like Us, Drake probably wanted to kill himself when that came on

:umad:
Told these nikkas :mjlol:

Watched that shyt on mute. It looked cool tho

Never understood the hype. People got sucked in to Drake getting dissed on a national state that they forgot about the actual artistry and performance.

Rappers should not be the main Super Bowl performers. They obviously aren't singers, but they also cannot dance, play instruments or have real showmanship. They are limited in their ability to be true performers. As a result they need a million backup people to move around the stage to create smoke and mirrors. That don't really work either.

The reason Dre's Super Bowl performance went well is because each rapper had a short amount of time to perform a hit song which maximized their momentum with the audience. Some were surprises which gave them a boost and most of them were build on nostalgia.

Having just 1 rapper doing the whole Super Bowl performance is a terrible idea. Especially when chances are, the audience isn't going to know most of the songs. At the most they should be a guest to show up and rap some lyrics on a song they were featured in. Then leave.

I'd rather take a Prince, Bruno Mars or Usher type any day.
Exactly

Only reason dude “blew up” last year was because most nikkas were happy he was dissing Drake :mjlol:

nikkas don’t want to admit the song was ass and it was like the 8th one he had to put out

Lil Wayne SHOULD have been there… not this overhyped nikka

Breh, that’s what kills me this most:

“Ooooh, Kendrick is too deep. The subliminals and symbolism went over y’all heads! :ooh: ” man, if y’all don’t GTFO! :mjlol:

I judge every performance on its individual merit. This was above average at best. Nothing went over my head, it was just dull. It’s meant to be a half time entertainment show, and it was mild at best.

And as someone in here already said, if Kanye hadn’t gone crazy, he would’ve killed it easily. He knows how to put on a live performance.

I’ve never got the Kendrick hype but I did throughly enjoy his first album… in fact, it was the best release of 2012. But since then, it’s just been self indulgent tripe from him. But Kendrick fans will tell you “it’s too deep and abstract for yall to comprehend.” :comeon:

Yeah he aint Lupe lol

Is it bad I judge music like this though...GKMC had songs on it that were better than anything Drake has ever made IMO

So even though Drake had more "hits" I still will prefer kendrick because Drake never gave me what kendrick did with that album lol I think GNX is bad...but sometimes he'll give a gem like luther or Humble that is just a bit rawer than what a Drake gives me.

The defeat, lack of cultural pride, poor taste and inability to relate the performance to the political environment in this thread is astonishing yet not surprising.

Ah, more fake deep babble

How was that related to the political environment? If I think the performance was mid, I lack cultural pride?

I agree to an extent. People jumped on the bandwagon because he was going at Drake. Drake has been on top or near the top for close to 20 years. Drake is the dude to hate(a lot for good reason, some for stupid reasons). Kendrick didn't "blow up" because of NLU. He was already successful and accomplished. I don't think NLU was garbage, but definitely not on the level of Ether, Hit Em Up, Drop A Gem On Em, etc like some people are trying to make it out to be.

Also Lil Wayne performing at the Super Bowl would have been a HUGE mistake. Dude can barely speak and too drugged out.
