This album just like nasir's untitled. Great effort and message. Just poor execution from a hiphop stand point. He tried to do too much. You cant outsmart the genre. For this type of album rappers need to look no further than ice cube's Amerikkka's most and Death Certificate. Dope beats amd rhymes with a message. Not this overly preachy shyt. This is same mistake that krs one made in the 90's. Hopefully he bounces back stronger the next go round because the kid is talented.

How is this album overly preachy when the most of its content is Kendrick dealing with fame. Content wise this album isn't as "preachy" as a Mos Def record or a Dead Prez. Is it because the soundscapes of the album deviate from today's predicable 808s but takes elements from traditional black music?

Outside of Blacker The Berry I just don't get this overly pro black preachy narrative y'all forcing.

the most clever part of kendrick is that he is extremely subtle with conveying his thoughts and ideas about life and everything contained within it. A poet conveying his personal philosophies is now somehow "preachy" :mjlol: Yeah, some songs like blacker the berry are overt but there are songs that on the surface sounds like he is saying one thing but really he is talking against what he is rapping about

paid posters upping this thread every month. :mjlol:

Give this overrated trash at least 3 years. then up threads every day if you wish. It still won't be classic but at least you're 1/10th of the way there towards "this has strong replay value"

Kendrick was brave as fukk for sticking to his guns and putting this album out as is. I didn't even think an artist not named Nas could even put an album out this unapologetically BLACK on a mainstream level. Like I just KNOW Top Dawg had to fight behind the scenes for this one. I dont care how many albums GKMC sold I can guarantee there were battles about getting this out uncompromised.

This shyt feels like fresh water on dry land. I'm loving this shyt. The sounds, the themes, the cohesiveness, the lyricism. The PASSION. It literally sounds like Stankonia mixed with Untitled and Fear Of A Black Planet, it's fukking incredible.
