YOOOOOOO!!! :damn:

You know how you listen to a great album so many times and discover new nuggets each time in the lines and the music? Its crazy how shyt connects so easily. I just realized how on the longest song on GKMC, Maya Angelou was obviously the elder speaking to the young men who were cursing. I mean I know it was her before when the album came out in 2012 but then I said :patrice: its ironic because on the longest song on TPAB ...this man :pachaha: was the wise figure speaking to Kendrick...

The degree of parallels isn't just crazy because Maya Angelou and Pac were both in Poetic Justice...but she gave us a story of when she had a convo with Pac

With how Pac was cursing and acting, we can pretty much replace him with the young man she was talking to in GKMC "Dying of Thirst" ending....then that same young man :pachaha: went on to use the same game he gave her ....to KENDRICK :mindblown: on TPAB

Grammy interview for Kendrick, showing love to the GOAT
The phenomenal performance with the National Symphony Orchestra Pops this past October pushed the possibilities of the hip hop art form forward in an unexpected and powerful way; would you ever consider incorporating a full symphony into future Kendrick Lamar records?

That was such an honor, and it was special to be part of something that broadens what hip hop is able to do. Plus, having Nas do it before me and lead the way with that was also special. As far as using a symphony in my music, man, you never know. The symphony brings about a whole different element in music. You never know; if the inspiration strkes, you might see some more strings or horns or something like that in my music.

Rumor Mill - MEET THE GRAMMY CLASS: THEIR WORDS & PICTURES

:ahh:

So many times I see interviews with mainstream media asking rappers weird questions like "you rapped over a rock and roll riff, how does it feel to be so innovative?" and the new rapper never corrects them and says ayo, the legends did this first. Shout outs to Kendrick

I dunno....all this talk about it being one of the greatest albums of all time. I don't see it. Its a good album but there's been plenty better. I still listen more to GKMC. That's the best album of the 2000's to me :yeshrug:

Nah. There hasn't. No holes in this album. Delivered lyrically and conceptually and sonically.

It's a top 5 Hip Hop album of all time.

This is just my opinion though

the timing of the album given the social climate is the MAIN reason why it's being rated so high imo

if this dropped in 08 it would still be an amazingly dope album, top 15 or discussion but not the hands down greatest album of all time in any genre like some dudes sayin

Really wasn't feeling the album upon first impression. Everyone was praising the message of it and I got it but the songs just didn't jam to me (besides Alright).

Personally, I felt like GKMC did a good job of putting together a compelling, meaningful narrative but still produced bangers (Kill My Vibe, Drank, Money Trees, Maad City). Same with Section 80 (ADHD, HiiPower, Spiteful Chant, Hol' Up).

With a few listens I've grown to appreciate the depth & direction of the project and songs like Blacker the Berry, Mortal Man, etc. are great moments but I can't say I enjoyed it as much as his previous work.

That's the thing, It would never have dropped in 08 because of the problems faced to black people in America since then is more visible, what with the widespread usage of social media and social movements.

Sort of like the perfect storm; all the elements such as unfortunate killings (Trayvon, Mike Brown etc.) online movements (BLM, "Black Twitter", The Coli:skip:) and even Kendrick's musical maturity all came together to create TPAB.

Life can be like a box of chocolate
Quid pro quo, somethin' for somethin', that's the obvious
Oh shyt, flow's so sick, don't you swallow it
Bitin' my style, you're salmonella poison positive
I can just alleviate the rap industry politics
Milk the game up, never lactose intolerant
The last remainder of real shyt, you know the obvious
Me, scholarship? No, streets put me through colleges
Be all you can be, true, but the problem is
Dream only a dream if work don't follow it
Remind me of the homies that used to know me, now follow this
I'll tell you my hypothesis, I'm probably just way too loyal
K Dizzle will do it for you, my nikkas think I'm a god
Truthfully all of 'em spoiled, usually you're never charged
But somethin' came over you once I took you to the fukkin' BET Awards
You lookin' at artists' like the harvests
So many Rollies around you and you want all of them
Somebody told me you thinkin' 'bout snatchin' jewelry
I should've listened when my grandmama said to me

:wow: :wow: :wow:

album is just incredible.
Easily a top verse :ohlawd:

What do you got to offer?
Tell me before we off ya, put you deep in the coffin
Been allergic to talkin', been a virgin to bullshyt
And sell a dream in the auction, tell me just who your boss is
nikkas be fugazi, bytches be fugazi
This is for fugazi nikkas and bytches who make habitual lyin' babies, bless them little hearts
You can never persuade me
You can never relate me to him, to her, or that to them
Or you, the truth you love to bend
In the back, in the bed, on the floor, that's your ho
On the couch, in the mouth, I'll be out, really though
So loud, rich nikkas got low money
And loud, broke nikkas got no money
The irony behind it is so funny
And I seen it all this past year
Pass on some advice we feel

CLASSIC

Album had a lot of quotable verses.

I know everything, I know myself
I know morality, spirituality, good and bad health
I know fatality might haunt you
I know everything, I know Compton
I know street shyt, I know shyt that's conscious, I know everything
I know lawyers, advertisement and sponsors
I know wisdom, I know bad religion, I know good karma
I know everything, I know history
I know the universe works mentally
I know the perks of bullshyt isn't meant for me
I know everything, I know cars, clothes, hoes and money
I know loyalty, I know respect, I know those that's hungry
I know everything, the highs to lows to groupies and junkies
I know if I'm generous at heart, I don't need recognition
The way I'm rewarded, well, that's God's decision
I know you know that lines from Compton School District
Just give it to the kids, don’t gossip about how it was distributed
I know how people work, I know the price of life
I know how much it’s worth, I know what I know and I know it well
Not to ever forget until I realized I didn’t know shyt
The day I came home

This album just like nasir's untitled. Great effort and message. Just poor execution from a hiphop stand point. He tried to do too much. You cant outsmart the genre. For this type of album rappers need to look no further than ice cube's Amerikkka's most and Death Certificate. Dope beats amd rhymes with a message. Not this overly preachy shyt. This is same mistake that krs one made in the 90's. Hopefully he bounces back stronger the next go round because the kid is talented.
