If you legit don't like this song, I don't understand how you can claim to be a fan of lyricism or rap.
Drake can make hits, I like drake but lyrically he is not on the level on kendrick or lupe its not even close. Even if he writes everything.
However no one is on par with drake when it comes to making hit songs and staying on the pulse of whats new. He's crafting a brand and to perfection.
J cole and big sean are like the in between kendrick and drake. imo Cole really can't spit all crazy and introspective. But he knows how to make hits also. Wale is to introspective and one dimensional, I can't even enjoy he new stuff because it always just sounds like more of his old stuff. But he's also a lyricist.
I don't know what it is about the dudes that can really spit, they just can't craft hit songs. I think GKMC was the closest thing to a blend of both recently.
Dark sky paradise is Big sean's best body of work recently, but alot of features and throw away songs have been really on point with him lately.
Dude with mad skill that make crappy hits/non hits
Joe budden
Royce
the whole slaughter house honestly
Em is lyrically the best of all time and I hate em's songs. But I have to respect the talent
Lupe is another one, after food and liquor which wasn't super lyrical over all (introspective tho) and also one of peoples fav albums from him.....the cool dropped did well but it was a steady decline the more and more lyrical he got.
Drake spits and rides the beat effortlessly sometimes. He know how to make a song his own. And sadly the lyrical dudes just don't know how to do this.
Andre 3000 is an example of what kendrick/drake/lupe would be if they fused. The introspective of lupe, lyrical of Kendrick, and the ability to make a song a hit and his own like drake.
