oh shyt! gotta address the socially conscious "pro black gang bangers"!! its so many of them out there!
the nikkas actually killin each other aint the ones riding for Trayvon like that bruh
99% of the ppl riding for Trayvon and big mike brown have never killed another black person so this line its wack ass hell..
and he set it up the whole song....i'm the biggest hypocrite of 2015..its in the same vein as "oh well blacks kill blacks and u dont complain then"
that was the whole point .. that was the punchline of the song, to build it up jus to make the point that we are hypocritical wen we call out injustice
this is the same bs rhetoric he was spitting in that interview so im not surprised!
i'm not feeling that shyt!

He is not trying to say black people shouldn't complain about injustice.

And you must be stupid as fukk if you actually think he is convinced he will change a gang bangers mind with that line or that he thinks you shouldnt be allowed call out injustice. He used that line to spark a conversation.

Its not only the gang bangers that are hypocritical. Its every one that is ignoring the problems in the black community.

That line also applies to the white protesters that protest Trayvons death but dont give a fukk about the ghettos.

The song works just for the reasons you pointed out. Its a concept song. Man it would've been wack if Kendrick had rapped as a white protester walking with a sign for 2 hours just to go home to his suburban home on the third verse instead.
He chose to make a pro black song with this message instead. Cant we be happy about that? What would the alternative of doing a concept song about the hypocrisy of the treatment of blacks looked like?

Once again, its a song not a 45 minute speech at a rally where you can go in depth on topics.

That isn't what he's saying. He's talking about the cats who will shed tears and grieve for Trayvon, then turn around and shoot their brother.

He specifically mentioned gang banging

if you choose to be a street nikka you accept the reality of death and prison

Travon martin lived in the suburbs and was gunned down for no reason

who is shedding tears for Trayvon and then going to kill each other, nobody is doing this

it's a dumb line

also how is a gang banger who's killed rival gang members who were either trying to kill them or killed on of their homes, a hypocrite to be mad about an innocent boy dying

it's dumb, you live by the gun you die by the gun, that's a choice bangers make, and they all end up dead or in jail

people weep because Trayvon DID NOT GET JUSTICE

It's a dumb statement, a weak statement, and completely nullifies everything he said in the song, because he's basking saying all the people who have these views are hypocrites, he starts every verse saying I am the biggest hypocrite, this song is basically a "what about black on black crime poem"

Even though some of you hate Kendrick you have to admit this is a good song.

You don't have to agree with his choice of words in half a bar or his opinion on things to appreciate that he put some effort into the song and to talk about something with meaning. Something that people may not agree with but its sparking a better discussion in here than guys pulling guns or who's city has more deaths.

mind on dat mula
Black on Black crime does concern me, but let's not pretend like it's gang bangers who are out here raising hell about Black people killed by Police or white vigilantes, or that the circumstances that lead to those deaths are remotely similar
Its not about the circumstances tho. Jus cause one is more wrong it doesnt invalidate the other. Black and black violence still deserves to be brought up, and just because one uses a reference to police brutality to try to bring light to the former to certain ppl, doesnt mean hes justifying police brutality.

Secondly, ur right. But street nikkas will be the first ones to chant fukk the police and cry about police brutality based on racism, yet those same dudes dont mind being brutal towards other ppl that look like them. I dont kno if its "hypocritical" per say, but its certainly counter-productive. Maybe if these same dudes did value the lives of their brothers more theyd be more able and willing to mobolize and fight in unison agaisnt police brutality/white supremacy.

If people were protesting over the murder of trayvon, this line would have some merit. The protests were/are mainly over the fact that the killer got away with it. If zimmerman went away since day 1, trayvon wouldn't have blown up like it did. same with mike.

This isn't a difficult feat to accomplish, Bieber can end a song with "what about Black on black crime" and achieve the same results.

nah african it's not the same

Kendrick spent the first 2 verses giving that work. I bet most folks on here complaining about that line was listening like:

till that last one took a shot to that precious ignance :ohlawd: . It's funny that the song was 4 minutes of the musical equivalent of the coli's wet dream, turns it inward for 35 seconds and its:camby: great trollmanship this shyt is art
