I'm an admitted stan, but the opinion I'm about to express I've been mulling over for a while.

I detest the "c00n" rhetoric that infests the Coli's most pro black sections. I disagree with Kendrick that the media's influence on a potential "race war" is even worthy of disscussion. I'd rather talk about where we are going to get our weapons and how do we plan on attacking/defending then discuss whatever agent may have brought us to that point. And the media is definitely lower on the totem pool than the actual offenses commited against blacks in america daily.

However, just because we disagree doesn't make me a better black man than him. It doesn't make my opinion more valuable than his just becauss he thinks the media is to blame and I don't, hell, it doesn't even make us enemies.

Kendrick having a different perspective on the same issue doesn't make him a c00n. He isn't actively doing any damage to the black community, if anything, the music he puts out is atleast uniting a select few black people and promoting awareness, which is honestly more than you could ask for from any mainstream rapper not named J. Cole. Kendrick is far from the same level as a Raven Symone or Azealia Banks and it's frustrating that one of the few groups of aware black people around are so willing to throw a potential ally in the same pit so quickly and over something as minor as a different perapective/opinion.
He didn't say anything about the media tho that's what I'm trying to get at :francis:

Listen I'm not the type of person that throws the word c00n around. You can look up my post history. But when you have a public black figure who talks on black issues and says that what is happening isn't bad but the reporting is, then that is as close to being a c00n that I can describe. He cares more about negative peace with the absence of tension then actually airing out the injustice that happens to black people. I don't want to go on a whole diatribe of what is wrong with Kendrick's statement but as I said it's like one of the most uncaring statements I have ever heard about the plight of black people in America.
Here's the problem....

He never said that. Did you even watch the interview?

I can sit here and acknowledge there is a concentrated effort on the part of those in power to incite further racial tension.
I can simultaneously acknowledge that the issues blacks face should be amidst the forefront as it pertains to social commentary in this country.
I don't necessarily disagree with Kendrick's point.
The nefarious tidbit that frustrates me to no end is the fact these stories aren't being discussed with the end game being reform.
No one is truly interested in solving and strengthening race relations. It's all a spectacle.
Bread & circuses. Controversy.
Blacks are an extremely controversial group. Easily the most scrutinized and polarizing group of people on planet earth.
The media knows this, and makes a concentrated effort to keep African Americans in the headlines.
The kicker? They should be.
From the second the average black male or female emerge from the womb, they're at a disadvantage because of the hue of their skin.
Nothing changes in this nation until that does.
It's going to take radical reform that I likely won't see in my lifetime, and make no mistake about it; NBC, CNN, random blogs, and any other media outlets aren't interested in facilitating that reform when they broadcast these stories.
Necessary for blacks to acknowledge what they're facing? Yes.
Nefarious motives from those with the power to deliver the headlines? Most definitely.
