This is a HELLA sad album. Master craftsmanship. Excellent writing. Top notch production. But there is a true and deeply entrenched pain interwoven throughout this album and VERY minimal moments of light. TPAB was a very moody album as well but there were songs like Alright, King Kunta, and even I that lifted the mood a bit. There’s NONE of that on this album. Just gut punch after gut punch.


This is going to be a VERY divisive album. I applaud this dude’s bravery for coming back after half a decade with this type of album


I think it’s obvious that Kendrick spent a LOT of time soul searching and putting together this album. Along with raising his family and dealing with his personal issues, this album probably took a LOT out of him. Hell I wouldn’t be surprised if he took ANOTHER half decade off after this one
