All that sounds good but there’s no way you can say artists should get paid and then don’t price yourself out.

Most people DO NOT check and see where a sample originated from. The same way we want rappers to get every cent they can from their hard work the same goes for the artists they sample.

Most older artists are being listened to by their original fan base.

That’s an entire different topic you’re bringing up. I said how many people are listening to a sample and then listening to the original artist that created it.

there are MANY artists especially from back in the day who have the rights to their music now so they don't have to deal with labels and others being middlemen.

But you still want them to lower their price snd take lower cuts so rappers can sample them? That’s all I’m saying. And we don’t know what artists own their rights.

anita baker didn’t want anyone streaming her music cause she still doesn’t own it, a music firm owns half of prince masters, Paul McCartney has been fighting forever to get the Beatles masters.

i just don’t think it’s fair to ask artists to do that.

Someone as meticulous as Kendrick not knowing if a particular song will be included on an album that is FOUR DAYS away from release!?!!? A song the label obviously paid a boatload to clear the sample from one of the most famous and revered artist of all time AND shot a video with expensive and time consuming special effects for?




Sounds like absolute cap to me. CAP I say!
