Ok.. but the line dont make sense.

Its just a shot at Drake bragging about breaking Michael’s record on FPS and wearing the glove in the video and doing the statue thing that Michael did when he was promoting HISTory album.

Many people look at Prince as the better, deeper, more profound artist because he wrote ALL of his songs and played multiple instruments on his albums. What makes it a false equivalent is that Michael wrote some of his own biggest hits and the reason he and his brothers left Motown was because Berry Gordy wouldn’t let his artists write and produce their own music. Only Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye had those privileges at the time and Stevie and Marvin had to FIGHT to get it. So Joseph took the Jacksons, minus Jermaine, to CBS where their deal expressly allowed them to write and produce their own material. People don’t do the knowledge though and assume Michael was just a supremely talented performer when he was also a world class song writer is in his own right. Actually comparing Drake, who is a fraud when it comes to writing, to Michael Jackson, who wrote Billie Jean, Beat It, Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough, Bad, Dirty Diana, and Smooth Criminal amongst other classics, is an insult to Michael Jackson.

I could see how a pure writer and creative like Kendrick would admire Prince over Michael Jackson as manner of personal artistic preference, but the line itself was more of a general poke at Drake’s own inflated sense of greatness than it is a diss to Michael, or at least thats how I took it. He’s playing on the perception that Prince’s music has more value and therefore by aligning himself with Prince, his own legacy will “outlive” Drake’s.
