u was able to explain what I feel about the album better than me...lol...like I said the song kinda grew on me but u on point and this is why I'm not seeing all this groundbreaking talk nikkas is sayin...The latest album that blended funk/experimental shyt perfectly was D'Angelo's. It's harder for a rapper because half the time it just sounds like they're talking over the beat if they aren't rapping.
And you hit the nail on the head by saying "Quik influenced". There is better versions of this kind of shyt in half of Quik's discography, and Kendrick doesn't have a melodic voice to accompany it.
Fred.
LMAO! You're quick with it.
First thing that came to mind when watching that video: who is this Riverdance muhfukka and why is he pretending that his song is hood?
The "King Kunta" song and video is the definition of pandering. It's weirdly offensive to me. "Black excellence" is the hood, gunshots, banging, thick chicks and dancing? How is this not the same ol bullshyt we criticize rap for? The appeal of this whole video screams "for cacs only"
Drake puts thick chicks in his videos, Kendrick stans hate. Kendrick puts thick chicks in his video, it's a "youthful expression devoted to the cerebellum antecedent of Black excellence and primordial progression." The fukk?
Like it or not, there's very little difference in theme between "King Kunta" and "Y.B.E". Both videos are shot by the same cat. Both feature chicks, the hood, references to gang shyt. Kendrick stans will say P's thugging and that makes him a negative influence on hip hop LOL. But then make gifs with Kendrick busting at the camera with hands or toy guns.
At this point, all I can say is: "go on K-dot. Pimp the Hood!"
It's all so fake.
Nah. I'm an old head, I remember when George Clinton and that whole movement was popping. So for a younger cat to go the funk route, it better be some next level shyt. The song is cool but I'm pretty about it.

I have to clap for y'all. Y'all Kendrick fans are the masters of deflection. I've talking about one thing, and one thing only: the fukked-up representation of Black excellence in the King Kunta video.
nikkas is talking about other tracks on the album, changing the word 'excellence' to 'experience', lavish lifestyles, not acting White, "how do I know those gangbangers and hoes aren't middle/upper class", K-dot did a favor for the homies, etc. This is why non-Kendrick fans laugh at y'all. You're mental midgets worshiping music designed for mental midgets, and we see right through you.
I think we'll end it here.
Whydo chicks keep fukking with this known woman abuser?
