Kendrick lamar implies the beef wasnt personal. Wanted rap to be in the spotlight again.

There's a part of me that believes that Kendrick wanted it to get personal so he could humiliate Drake
I think he would have done it anyway if he was losing
He'd be on Pusha T time

Yeah, it pissed him off, but he wanna win

No grown man says "i hate the women you fukk" without it being personal

No one dissed kendrick on fps. In fact they requested he be on the song. Kenny started the beef as promo

Drake been dissing Kendrick all throughout the lead up to and the release of For All The Dogs. We gonna just act like Drake wasn’t confidently and arrogantly up on stage talking about “I got a brand new album coming this year, I don’t know why it takes these other nikkas 5 years” like that wasn’t a public shot? Kendrick was just the first to take the gloves off and say “Lets go”.

The battle was 100% personal. They can dress it up however they want for the NFL but us within the culture know that shyt was personal between BOTH of them and had been bubbling since Aubrey’s reaction to the Control verse. This wasn’t some shyt that popped up over night.

It GOT personal.

I mean, I know Like That was bumpin but it wasn't some scathing diss when you actually look at what he said in context. Of course there have been subs back and forth, I'm not saying there wasn't animosity but I believe Kendrick when he's saying that he was willing to keep it rap.

This GOAT shyt is the lifeblood for real MC's. You throw my name in the mix on a song where you're going for yours in that respect, now I'm going for mine. Nothing he said on Like That warranted bringing up that mans wife and child. shyt none of the subliminals warranted that either.

It could have been an much different scenario if Drake was more concerned with actually showing and prooving that lording over people.

That's the thing, though. It was always going to get personal because that's what Drake does. On the very first track, he mentions Whitney
What Kendrick was able to do was maneuver in such a way so that he would not come off as a bully once he started stomping him

Even if Cole reached out, the fact that drake was cool with kenny doing the song shows they didnt have a personal beef before, at least from drake side

"Backstage in my city it was friendzone"

“Surprised you wanted that feature request/You KNOW we got some shyt to address.”

There was a personal issue between them that Drake either tried to ignore or coverup by playing cute and buddy buddy and Kendrick wasn’t having it. I personally think Kendrick always knew about that interview Drake did on ESPN where he was going in on Kendrick and saying he was better, the interview he made sure never aired, and Kendrick wanted him to stand on that and was simply tired of the subliminals and ready to battle it out. Drake does a lot of petty to straight up foul shyt behind the scenes and nikkas was ready to call him out on it. Kendrick was just the first to say “fukk it lets go”

Exactly. Kendrick kept it HIP HOP and just because every media is reminding us of that doesn't mean it was corporate :dead:

This is the essence of rap music. The other clown is the one that infused some personal crap into the beef.

:russ:This bruh Drake jumped out the window first. Talking about Dot’s girl while Kendrick on Like That. Was rapping about being #1 and calling Drake’s albums trash. Even Cole kept it hiphop with his diss track. Drake made the beef personal.

Euphoria is basically Kendrick laying out all the PERSONAL reasons he and Drake needed to have it out. It didn’t need to get personal as far as wife, kids, and pedophilia allegations but neither of them actually liked each other going back years and Kendrick put it all on front street.

“I hurt your feelins? You ain’t wanna work with me no more ok.”

Surprised you wanted that feature request/ you KNOW we got some shyt to address”

“Fabricate stories on the family front because you heard Mr Morale/A pathetic master manipulator/ I can smell the tales on you now”

“I don’t like you poppin shyt at Pharrell for him i’ll inherit the beef.”

“I like Drake with the melodies/ I don’t like Drake when he acts tough”

“Try cease and desist on the Like That record!/ Oh what you ain’t like that record?!?”

The shyt was always personal between the two.

Good example of why journalism can't compete with bullshyt. I watched the entire interview. At no point did he imply that. But if your sole intention is to get clicks and you know the beef is the best way to get them, you're gonna create a headline like this to garner engagement.

Beef was manufactured and sponsored by corporate America. Once Kendrick appeared on the future album (who shares the same manager) the set up was in. Drake fell for the bait and in the process got bodied and self tarnished his legacy.

What about Cole:jbhmm:
