Wasn’t sure where to put this video but this was a phenomenal breakdown on why Kendrick is not just a great rapper, but a true artist as well. He really does take it seriously which is why he’s been able to make such timeless music without having to compromise himself whatsoever.

Watched this the other day. Kendrick mastered the art of patience and timing. He didn’t let social media or outside folks pressure him. He moved at his own time..

Which is why Drake fukked up..

You oughta hear Ray Daniels cop pleas for Drake. :mjlol:

Basically said that signing the $400 mil deal forced him to release music at pace he wasn't used to. He was tryna say before the deal Drake was releasing music every other year but that's not true. Thank Me Later dropped in 2010. Take Care dropped in 2011. What A Time and If You're Reading came out in 2015. Views came out in 2016. More Life was 2017. Scorpion was 2018.

He didn't sign that deal until 2022.

Do y'all think cuh may have released too much shyt?

im still blown away by how good the features are. Kendricks chemistry with Dody6 and AzChike was insane. Both beats suited their detached west coast flows and Kendrick gave both of them smooth openings, honestly classic first bars to start their verses.

not even going into how roddy completely stole the show on dodger blue.

Well let’s look at his track record.

2010: Thank Me Later
2011: Take Care
2013: NWTS
2014: albums worth of features and loosies
2015: iYRTITL and WATTBA
2016: Views
2017: More Life
2018: Scorpion
2019: Care Package and a few features
2020: Dark Lane Demo Tapes
2021: CLB
2022: Honestly, Nevermind and Her Loss
2023: For All The Dogs
2024: Beef records and 100Gigz

The only time he kinda took a break was 2017 when “More Life” dropped. That was the same year “DAMN.” dropped and he was lowkey silent for the rest of the year. He hasn’t took a real break since 2012.

After NWTS…he hasn’t stopped.

100%, which is why it all sounds the same and extremely soulless

Most straightforward album from him since "Kendrick Lamar EP" in 2009. IMO it's pretty solid, but not perfect. I love Luther and Dodger Blue, but Kendrick feels like he's getting overshadowed by his guests there, and those songs would sit better on a different album. I don't like the title track at all.

Overall, I like it more than MMATBS, but less than Damn and S80.

So, in the music video with the Nate Dogg G-Funk Classics reference, Isaac Hayes‘ Moses reference (and other references to double albums), was the purpose of these if not telling us that another album is coming?

It’s so on the nose that I have a hard time thinking what else it could be reference to. But nobody seems to be talking about that any longer.
