It's like Roc Marci said on his new album...rappers be spending more time writing a social media post than an album. We may never get new mainstream rappers like this (Kendrick, Cole, etc) again anytime soon.

There will be. Because there's a lot of young kids today that look up to Kendrick. This 2024 is gonna have a huge impact on the culture moving forward. I think we're headed to a new "conscious" era of rap in the next 10 years. Especially with the state of the country right now. People are fed up. And Kendrick has made young rap fans fall in love with lyrics again. In 10 years, the rap game is gonna be full of Kendrick's babies.

Very important Kendrick doesn’t fukk up this run he’s on. It’s sad to say but he’s gotta be perfect if he wants the type of influence he was alluding to on his 2nd verse of Watch the Party Die.

Keep releasing projects where you’re on your Hemingway shyt (short & concise, every line dropped is effective), balancing the line of consciousness and lit, continue showcasing creativity & people will follow.

I don't even need people to be "conscious" in their raps. All I need for them to do is actually care about their craft. Care about evolving their art creatively and lyrically. Understand when it's time to let people breathe with your music and understand when it's time to drop new music.

Like I don't mean to shyt on Future because I do fukk with bro. The lead up from Monster to DS2 was legendary. But the three albums he dropped this year were not all needed. He could have consolidated some of that music as to much of it was filler.

It just feels like everything moves too fast nowadays and creatively, artist just can't keep up with the "demand". It's a big reason I believe Drake utilizes ghost writers.

This video that was posted in the prodigy thread was pure knowledge. This is exactly how Kendrick needs to move going forward.

Kendrick has a responsibility to keep droppin bangers now. Giving the people the medicine with the food. Even if those tracks don't necessarily inspire him artistically. Those are the songs that grab the attention of the youth. Then once you have their attention you give em the medicine. That's what was so great about gnx. It was the perfect balance. He gotta stick with this formula moving forward if he wants to accomplish his mission.

Love this post, let’s keep it going. It’s this thread right now on boxden with Rome Streetz giving his opinion on the Joey Badass situation with follow up tweets sharing his stories of different rappers he met. Turned into a quick little Underground circle jerk and it led me to post this:

That vid you posted…PERFECT.

Fam, who the fukk is really bumping Westside Gunn, Boldy James & Ransom? I appreciate them, they cool but really tho, who is supporting them?

They don’t have the accessibility in their music for anybody trying to make it, to see them as “yea ima try to do this music shyt forreal. Someone going through the same shyt as me but making lit shyt”.

P was spitting jewels in that video, nobody give a fukk about KRS & Mos Def but salute to their contributions. Where the lit shyt at? Where the lyrics with the lit shyt at? It’s gonna hurt some people’s hearts saying this out loud but it’s the truth. Where the Quiet Storm, CREAM, Kick in The Door at?

Yea the underground used to be the standard for greatness. Now the shyt is just as watered down as the mainstream. Kendrick is the only guy today that could have existed in the 90's.

Even from a production standpoint, these guys are not nearly as clever as the goats from the past. Especially when it comes to chopping samples. A lot of it is just sample packs and loops. Nobody really getting down like this.
