Cuban's are straight White Spaniards. There's a large Black population there no one knows about unless theres a olympic event and youre shocked..Cuba one one of those Spanish speaking nations that hide their Black population.

Ricans I met in NY had a severe identity crisis.
Imagine someone saying:
“Americans are straight White Europeans”

That’s what you’re doing to Afro-Cubans, it’s wild problematic.

I find it extremely odd when I see Black individuals casually adopt Whiteness and engage in this colonial erasure of Blackness somewhere else by using such language.

American is not a race, it’s a nationality.
No matter if it’s 14%, African Americans exist as an historic ethnicity.

Saying “Americans are white”
is an active denial of African American ethnic existence because of and despite the trans-Atlantic Slavetrade.

Afro-Cubans exist,
they‘re a part of the African Diaspora like the rest of us

:snoop: and they make up less than a half a percent of the whole entire population … something like 0.41%
Mexico doesn't really do an official census like America and Canada do. Afro Mexican population in Veracruz, Oaxaca and Guerrero is really more like 30%-40%

The further north you go in Mexico, the more they're mixed with white. Mostly Spaniard/German. Like Canelo Alvarez

The further south you go, the more they are mixed with Indigenous. Many of them speak their indigenous/Aztec/Mayandialect or their Spanish is mixed with Aztec words. The southern end of Mexico was isolated from the rest of Mexico for a long time due to lack of infrastructure and roads connecting it to the rest of Mexico.

In the south of Mexico, as you go outward toward both coasts the population becomes increasingly black. They still carry on African traditions in their clothing and dance.

A lot of Mexico suffers from "me no black papi" syndrome like the Dominican republic, and they categorize people differently. Aside from "Mestizo" they also have a category "trigueño" which literally means to have wheat-colored skin (from Spanish "trigo" for wheat). Many Mexicans are mixed with black and either aren't aware or were never taught about it

Mexico is a country that worships whiteness so they still have a long way to go when it comes to accepting blackness

It was 5%. 5% of 15 million is 750,000. That is a lot of people. Even 1 is too many

stop it - u know that complete bullshyt …. like I said less than half a percent went to Mexico and Central America

The black population for Veracruz, Oaxaca and Guerrero … doesn’t really matter. I’m talking about the whole entire country and as I said, they make up less than one percent.

and you’re being incredibly disingenuous by comparing Mexico to Caribbean Spanish countries like Dominican Republic all because of this so-called saying “ me no black papi “ , because it’s so ridiculous that a lot of people who have dislike/hatred for them try to bring up the term and don’t even understand what it really means or what you’re supposed to represent. … but I digress.

at the end of the day, Mexicans and the country of Mexico doesn’t even consider or acknowledge them

Why are you talking about their percentage whole country, when there are certain states that have a high black population? That's like including Wyoming, Idaho and Vermont's stats when talking about black Americans, it's not even relevant

Black Mexicans make up a much larger percentage of Mexico than just 1%. I don't know why you're so desperate to discredit Mexico's black population. I've lived in the south of Mexico and seen it with my own eyes.

Racial identity in Mexico is not taught the same way as in the US. A Mexican women who looks just like SZA will say she's trigueña and that she has curly hair because her grandma's hair is curly

what do you mean by asking me why I’m talking about the percentage of the whole country?
That makes no sense you wanna pick and choose three small / midsize cities where there’s 20 to 30% of Afro Mexicans and display that = that is what you call being incredibly disingenuous

that’s like two people having a conversation and talking about the percentage of Arabs who live in the United States and one person is saying well let’s only use Michigan Massachusetts in New Jersey. The three states that have the highest Arab population and let’s forget about the rest of the fukking countries come on man

A quick Google search and it tells you one percent of Afro Mexicans live in Mexico - so I don’t understand why you would think I’m trying to discredit them. Actually the bigger question is how come the whole entire country doesn’t even acknowledge them.
