Again, relative to Caribbean Latinos who are triracial (Ricans) or basically mulattos with a Native great-great-grandparent (Dominicans).

If I'm not mistaken Salvadorans on average are blacker than Mexicans...and of course Belizeans and Panamanians, who are Central American, are blacker and I'm not simply talking about the West Indian migrants.
Puerto Ricans are tricky because they're usually the Whitest Hispanics you'll meet in NYC besides Colombians even though Mulatto and Black ones are still around and there's mad AA/Rican and Jamaican/Rican mixed people in NYC.

They're generally more Euro leaning than Dominicans, Mexicans, Central Americans, and Ecuadorians in NYC though. Often notably so.

But the majority of Ricans, including many White looking ones, still have more Black ancestry than the average Brown Skinned Mexican funnily enough.

So, you get this weird conundrum where you can run into Guatemalans and Oaxacans that'll be darker skinned than your Black @ss but still have less Black/African blood than an Italian looking Puerto Rican who's like 78% Spaniard and 15% African. It's an interesting dynamic.

Ricans and Cubans are simultaneously Whiter and Blacker than many other Hispanics.

Cuban's are straight White Spaniards. There's a large Black population there no one knows about unless theres a olympic event and youre shocked..Cuba one one of those Spanish speaking nations that hide their Black population.

Ricans I met in NY had a severe identity crisis.

A Rican who is 78% European is probably not going to be 15% African. That leaves 7% for Indigenous (which is not impossible but typically low) and the splash of North African that many Latinos tend to have. They tend to be more Indigenous than Dominicans while the gap in European blood may not be what you think.

Cubans are not blacker than Dominicans, especially the ones who are here. Many Oaxacans are straight Native with a dash of Spanish which is why they're as brown as they are.
