He should've either said his name or kept that track in the studio because it looks like right now is a carbon copy

A carbon copy of what? It's a dope song, it's the song that made the album take so long for me to listen to in full.

And miss me with some "copy" of some Drake song when he's fukking Frankenstien....

Honestly bruh it's lowkey a losing argument, nikkas don't understand your point the same way they don't understand why nikkas like Boosie were considered the "new Pac" in the South/West Coast way before a nikka like KDot would ever be. The fact that you can FEEL where he coming from no matter what he's talking about escapes these folks. That nikka Boosie really was worshipped in the Town frfr, couldn't go nowhere in the East without hearing that nikka music.

The both of you are talking about somethingtotally subjective and really up to
the listener to interpret.

There are people on here who get hits of nostalgia when Kendrick raps
from the perspective of his mother on "FEAR" others don't "get" it.
It ain't that deep.

Thinking about it, what's hella ironic is that a lot of the same people who talk about Kendrick having a more sophisticated musical foundation than the rest of his peers are the same people who completely ignore some lowkey basic musical shortcomings he has such as his abrasive vocal tonality which rarely ever works in key with the music :skip:

These same people then go on to mock and criticize rappers who can not only maintain consistent vocal tonality in key with the music (Thug) but are also able to convey and control emotion in their delivery/lyrics (Gates) which is literally one of the most coveted skills for any vocalist regardless of genre :skip:

Most of these nikkas never actually laid vocals before so it's understandable, still funny though how the internet rap community created a lotta nikkas who think the technical side of rapping is strictly in the writing. :snoop: I'll give Kendrick credit in that he has some songs where he effectively conveyed the emotion of his lyrics through his delivery but a lot of times it comes off as extremely forced.

Brehs have no clue what "Vocal Tonality" or "Key" means but stay making posts like authorities.

1. What you're referring to is "Timbre" (pronounced Tam-Burr), you aren't not talking about
"Tonality" because rapping has damn near nothing to do with TONE or Notes, it's RHYTHMIC.

Even then we're talking about what you PERSONALLY find pleasing to your ears, there is no
one size fits all "Rap Voice" so we're veering in pretty plainly SUBJECTIVE territory.
If we're talking about timbre in Rap then it's obvious more high pitched vocals are and have been acceptable for a while now
and will continue to be.

Kanye, Jay-Z, Lupe, Kendrick etc. sound different from Scarface, Ice Cube, Rakim, Biggie, Pac and so on.
This isn't a hit against the their songs whatsoever IMO.

2. "Rarely ever works in key", breh let's be real. You have absolutely no clue what key these songs are in
and some of them don't even fit into traditional ideas of "Key", the first half of XXX and/or parts of songs like
DNA take "Hip-Hop" ideas to the extreme and focus almost entirely on Timbre, Sonic Texture and Rhythm.
Completely avoiding traditional song writing ideas like harmony and melody.

3.Thugs "Sing Song" rapping remains in key because of one fukking thing and that's Auto tune and even that's debatable.

Gkmc had more radio friendly hits then this album

Hooks were much more catchy and radio friendly too as well as the beats

Beats on some songs sound like a generic underground album

GKMC did have a few radio tracks, but they were more apart of a theme album vs DAMN being more of Kendrick making stand-alone jams

Loyalty > Poetic Justice if u ask me
