1. Songs go viral all the time and don't matter or disappear. I don't remember any Rocky stuff until that second mixtape dropped.
2. The problem is that you're labeling basic label shyt as plant shyt, and claiming Kendrick is the biggest offender when the reality is nearly all your favorite rappers are getting that push to varying levels. You cannot knock Kendrick while ignoring all the similarities to Rocky. Only difference is Rocky has far fewer fans and isn't as hot as Cole, Kendrick, Drake, etc.
Let's look at Rocky sales tho.
First album: went gold. clap for em
Second album: major label bomb
So let's be real. Meanwhile Cole and Kendrick have had consistent sales. Big Sean has seen sales increases. Rocky is fading after his first album now that the hype is gone.
3. The biggest difference between Kendrick's hype is that he gets far more attention from non traditional mediums - non music blogs and sites. Slate, New Republic, etc have written many think pieces about him. The only other rappers who get that type of attention are Kanye and sometimes Drake.
So far you haven't displayed a single argument to explain why Kendrick isn't popular or just hype. Dude went plat with a rap album with no major singles and no mainstream sound. Let's be real here, "hype" alone isn't going to make that work in this sales climate. And in terms of GKMC are you going to argue people weren't fukking with it?
this petty hate is too much fam. I like some of your opinions on rap too which makes this lazy shyt disappointing...
