Call a dude a plant who grinded on a small label since he was 15 and has multiple mixtapes put out from that age and you see the progression from back then to now but not the dude that blew up into a superstar overnight from one mixtape and no other previous catalogue brehs
a) so you'd rather sit through years of trash catalog than one brilliant mixtape?
b) y'all are deliberately avoiding the actual definition of a plant. Someone who relies entirely on the machine/industry cosigns for buzz to take them out of obscurity because their music aint really hitting. Kendrick is living proof of that. Until Dre stepped in, Kendrick was ignored.
Rocky came into the game with a featureless mixtape that catapulted him to stardom. Him/Yams created their own buzz for the most part. Which means the music spoke for itself. Real talent. End of story.
