Kendrick I feel has more diverse flows and a greater ability to ride any beat.

Kendrick would have Killed that notorious thug beat with a better flow then biggie could ever create
Absolute nonsense. Kendrick has never dropped a memorable flow ever.
His only memorable verse ever is control because of the controversy.
Biggie has endless famous flows, verses or bars.
And he did it with a very short career.
Kendrick is not there or headed there at all

LOL at some Kendrick fans who are now saying it was meant to be ironic because I suggested that the only way those wack lines would make a shred of sense is if they were sarcastic/ironic.

Surprising how none of you brought up the irony part till I said it :usure:

You're basically following my opinion.

Your usage, "I'm as hateful as" wouldn't be as powerful.

The literary device that brings power to that line is Irony.

It is ironic because Blacks were one of the groups that didn't face extermination at the hands of Hitler.
It is ironic because of the tension between Blacks and Jews in America that he references the race that persecuted the Jews(who dominate the power positions in the music industry). A persecution that they are keen, and systematic on reminding everyone of, while Black history gets largely ignored and written out of the books.
It is ironic because the skin is an extremely visible condition while the heart cannot be seen until someone is dead. It is easy to fake having a good heart, it is not easy to fake your skin color.
It is ironic because he is taking this condition that has been caste as a negative (black skin) and setting it as a positive in contrast with something that is an actual evil (aryan genocide).

And you said black heart doesn't create a clear image for you so I'ma help you out.

Dis a regular heart
Regular-heart3.jpg

das a black heart (probably in a NAZI).

He also uses synesthesia
"In literature, synesthesia refers to a technique adopted by writers to present ideas, characters or places in such a manner that they appeal to more than one senses like hearing, seeing, smell etc. at a given time."

He is using a color (visual) to convey pain (sensory).

These are highly advanced and abstract concepts. Not quotable nonsensicals like: Gold grills like a set of new braces's

[
SPOILER]:troll:
Kevin Gates >Kendrick anyway:jawalrus:[/SPOILER]

vague hyperbolic bullshyt to be honest. Kendrick is a choose-your-own hotep adventure rapper.

But at this stage, do you.

Soulless flow and poor attempt at wanting a 2pac like fanbase via wanna be deep songs that dont sound authentic at all

This is the most impressive verse to me in recent memory

fukk a meeting we about to have a sit down
Wrap the phone up in plastic and stick it in the fridge
They know where we are, but they don't know what we did
Anything bout a mix-up, murder getting sent
Gotta speak in code when you talking on the phone
Sticking to the code, they'll listen to the song
I told my team about manifestation
People are basic they thought I was crazy
Hard with the witchcraft, study every night
Philosopher's Stone, I perform another rite
Rite meaning ritual, created dry ice

Hid in plain sight wear the suit and tie nice
Mason mean more than a brick layer
Salmonella moving chicken got my chick tailored
Poison that was giving, distributed in the streets
Find another way to eat, I'mma quit slanging

Bread Winner gang made nikkas quit hanging
Other side hate it when a nikka bang money
Thumbing through the law books (And he know the law?)
Sent a hit in Baton Rouge (And he getting off?)
Third-eye focused (Wonder what he saw?)
Power in the tongue (Bullets in your car)
You ain't want it, had it on you, tried to pull it but you lost
War never knew mercy
Our Lady of the Lake won't receive you with open arms
You in yellow tape

Maluchie goin' stupid, he a do it in ya face
Talking bout leaving your grandmother, and will do it in your face
shytting in the jack nikka you got do-do in your face
What you doing? Don't you know it ain't no doing it with Gates?
Peculiar, oolier, noodle your grape
Lot of days spent in the cage, wasn't what you think
Washing clothes with the toilet water, drinking out the sink
Hard mat hurt your back when it's no option
Everybody boxed in, trying to release toxins

How? How old are you? Were you around when that song was out? Did you see the public response? People went crazy for that flow and rightfully so. I was 17/18 back then.
i was 13 back then.

was impressed back then but then again i was impressed by anyone rapping fast. i know people went crazy which is why i said it was overrated. there's nothing really "crazy" about the flow itself. looking back, i think people went crazy over it because it was unexpected and biggie had never done it before.

:what:i said in my original post of this exchange that you had it right when you talked about sarcastic.

"I'm black as the heart of a fukking Aryan" how is that not meant to be ironic? i think that's a little too obvious for you to take credit for that opinion. that's like me saying "Cause when my coke come in, They gotta use the scale that they weigh the whales with" is meant to be a hyperbole and anyone else who shares my opinion is "following my opinion" because no one else brought it up before. you're just debating to debate at this point breh.

Then why didn't y'all say it until I said it? The first cat said something completely different about it. In fact, none of y'all have said anything clear and consistent about what that particular line means other than "it's something about race". Look at the million tangents DontKnock went on.

Like I said, it reminds me of some Lupe shyt. Just scattered mixed-metaphor rhymes on some choose-your-own-adventure shyt. As a whole, shyt don't make sense, logically or emotionally. How you gon be sarcastic and vague when rhyming about a real and poignant issue?

It is what it is. I sense we won't see eye to eye on this. But I respect you for engaging in debate. :salute:

I feel sorry that you're too young to comprehend greatness. You downplay shyt that really moved people but big up this forced fed nikka named Kendrick. Wake up young Buck. It was the style not the speed that made that flow so impressive

i actually got into the discussion of that line pretty late. i can't speak for other people. i never said it was a great line or a great song either. i said it in one of my earlier posts but my main criticism of Kendrick (and more specifically TPAB) is that while he has "clever" moments and while you could argue the album is intricately constructed, it just feels like it's clever just for the sake of being clever. it's like he's using the themes as an excuse to display cleverness instead of using cleverness to explore themes and at the end it leaves me a little cold cause it doesn't evoke emotion in me. it's almost like intellectual masturbation.

i just wanted to give my interpretation of the line within the context of the song.

the concept of mixed similes or metaphors is pretty common in hip hop music though.

"weak like 7 days"

"you remind me of school on a sunday...no class" (might not be a simile but he could have just as easily said "you have no class like school on a sunday" eventhough it doesn't flow as well)

simile with a play on words. kendrick made an ironic one. i don't think it's the illest line ever but i think downing the line specifically because it doesn't compare two things that are the same is a little much since it's a lyrical trademark in hip hop at this point.

i actually don't fukk with lupe's music that much for the same reasons :russ:I admit Kendrick is a little bit like that too but he's not as annoying with it IMO.

to me it was cool for what it was. i didn't say it was wack or anything like that. it was interesting. it just didn't move me like that as far as the style :yeshrug:

i don't think this has much to do with age either.
