To a certain extent I can see her issue with Bey not reaching out to say hey I'm gonna sample your song. Just on some mutual respect between professionals.
But that's not what the real issue is - she's mad because she don't own the song and there was no requirement to reach out to her. Is Kelis making these videos if she knew a fat publishing check was on her way?

I’m sure she “owns” some songs here and there but no one wants them shyts.
Just so happens that she used to roll with the Neptunes when they were on fire and they blessed her with some heat. Anyone could’ve popped with that song. Imagine Amerie or some other 3rd tier singer on Milkshake.
The song ain’t hers. It belongs to Chad, Pharrell and the publishing company.
She thinks she’s on a level where Bey can casually call her and ask for a blessing. And then in her mind, Pharrell is trying to slight her after 19 years.

I understand Kelis' frustration with Pharrell but she's been shading Beyonce' since the 00s, not buying the "I just found out the day before her big release". She been ain't liked her.

Kelis’ issue (like many artists) should be with the way the industry is set up. Folk wanna make music but not do their due diligence when it comes to the “business” side.

I don't think she's asking for anything crazy. she didn't even ask for money in them videos. she just said it would've been nice to know about it. maybe they could've pulled her in and had her be a part of the creative process and broke her off some credits. but it's also possible she burned a bridge so badly that they aint even wanna involve her. which again begs the question of why even sample her. it does come off as a petty power move by pharrell since she's been going at him for a minute
