Keith Lee was on Talk Is Jericho; here's a synopsis of the conversation:

Keith said he felt handcuffed and felt like he was being tested at times, had a talk with Hunter before NXT went on TV and Hunter said the handcuffs were off from there and it made Keith feel better. Said that the restraints re-appeared, especially when he came back as Bearcat. Was told not to look at the crowd.

Said that Survivor Series 2019 was an interesting day, no one knew what was going on and things were changing until entrances. They decided then to have Keith be the last guy with Roman, Keith believes it was due to his size. Keith said Roman let him call the final parts of the match with him and Seth

He said that he doesn't think the company was prepared for him to get the reaction he got at Survivor Series. It's beat into talents heads that the main roster and NXT audiences are two different audiences and they wanted to figure out a way to get him over. He said "okay, cool" and then the main roster crowd was singing Bask In His Glory

Said he didn't know he was in the Royal Rumble until 2 hours before. He thinks they wanted someone to have a moment with Brock, and it was between him and Riddle, but Riddle had heat with Brock at the time. Said Brock was very receptive to ideas but Keith was watching people get thrown out by Brock backstage and going "well thats not what he said! Oh that's not what he said!" He said he could tell when he walked down that Brock wanted to work with him, and Brock did more for him in 4 seconds than a lot of people ever could.

Said that it was his easier when he was first called up since he was strictly talking to Vince but when he came back from COVID, there was so much shake-up that it was overwhelming. Said that writers won't even pitch ideas talent gives to them out of fear of backlash. Calls the process "absurd, outlandish even"

Said that when they sent him to Florida after his first tryout in 2008, Dusty Rhodes said "my speaking was so bad, he flat-out told me I sucked." Was called back for another in 2011 and he wrestled and cut another promo and Dusty said "...eh." His third tryout in 2013 Dusty said to him after "Listen I know I've given you shyt but you finally have an aura I can bask in." Keith then said "I think Bask In My Glory is my new thing now." To which Dusty said "Awethum"

Said that the biggest difference was walking in the AEW locker room and seeing smiles and more of a laid back environment. Said he's here to help AEW grow and to, selfishly, earn the time to work with Hangman, Punk, Danielson, the top tier in AEW.

Said that it's hard to say that he didn't get what he wanted. Not many people got to come right up to RAW and beat Randy Orton. Said after his COVID battle, he's just grateful for the opportunity to still wrestle.

Said he doesn't really have an answer for his release. Said on his way back they have a talk for the Bearcat thing, he doesn't really feel it. After his second match back, Vince got off the headset and pulled him into a room before the semi main event of RAW. Vince said this is my vision for you and I need you to go through with this. Keith said okay you're the boss. Vince did not like the way Keith spoke and said "you sound too smart for your own good." Keith thinks he wanted him to be more intense in his promos but Keith said "I'm just not a big yelly, grunty, angry guy." Jericho brings up that these are the same things that Vince had concerns about with Brodie Lee.

The direction for Bearcat was "Be intense. Be angry. That's it." So Keith tried. But then they wanted him to cut promos like he used to and Keith said that doesn't make sense, since you didn't like how I talked. Said there was no reference to the Bearcat name internally as to how it was created, he tried to create a story to tie it to "Bearcat" Wright to answer people's questions as to why it came about, and they said don't reference him.

Admits he kept to himself backstage in NXT and he rubbed some people the wrong way initially, although he didn't intend to.

Keith Lee: "Oh Vince sire, my duties as a professional wrestler seems to be limited upon my graces. I desire such revelations of greatness such as of those of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson sir name, and Stone Cold Steve Austin stage name. These incredible acts resembles the growth of such potential fortitude. So I ask of you Vince sire of WWE kingdom, will you allow Keith Lee the honorable majestic wonder to get out of this hell known as midcard to excel throughout the wonders that are placed in the future of I."
