You have 0 leverage, matter fact your punk ass team gonna take deng as well. Go ahead trade him to another team, we will get him next season :mjlit:

Ingram/Kuzma/Ball going to look good in that silver and black, enjoy that spineless quitter. Otherwise he going east :mjlit:

Spurs will wait for the FA to all sign wherever before he’s dealt anywhere, you think Bron/George going to wait an year to see if kawhi signs while they waste an year of their careers? :mjlol:

I think PG13 would sign to the Lakers regardless if LeBron or Kawhi come.

Kawhi just has to let it be known that he would come to the Lakers next season and they might hold on to capspace.

People saying the spurs "have no leverage" don't seem to understand how salary caps and bird rights work...

Spurs could absolutely take this dude salary from 5 year 219 million in San Antonio (which they won't because I think this whole thing is about them not offering him the supermax due to his injury and bytchassness) to what...4 year and 130 to 140 million dollars in LA...and I haven't even factored in the the difference between getting 219 million in Texas with no state tax and getting 140 million in LA with an enormous state tax...you add in the taxes and you are literally talking about close to a 100 million dollar difference...so yeah I would call the ability to cost someone that much money over a 1 year period..."leverage"...

Also, if the Lakers really want to build this PG/Kawhi/Lebron team...they got to get one of these dudes to come to them via trade....because they don't have enough cap space for 3 max...they would need one to come to them in the off season via trade so then they can go over the cap to pay that guy next year...So that means either PG or Lebron has to pick up their player option and do a sign and trade...or they have to trade for Kawhi...who actually just has a year on his deal AND a player option...

I don't see PG or Bron turning down max deals from somewhere just to pick up 1 year options so that they can get to the lakers...so the only viable solution is for the spurs to trade kawhi to the lakers and get him on the books for this year and get his bird rights...which means you could then sign PG and Bron to the max this year...then next year you sign Kawhi to the max...you going way over the cap to do it but what do you care you are the lakers you got like a zillion dollar tv deal...but if the spurs don't trade him to the lakers then this super team pretty much doesn't exist...so i would call the ability to genesis a super team for another western conference team "leverage"...

I haven't even gotten into the whole Dejounte Murray is on Klutch Sports...meaning Rich Paul is his agent...so you KNOW this dude is going to be down to watch Kawhi Leonard leave the spurs...because if he does the spurs start building around Dejounte...and then all of a sudden that is another max contract slot on the Spurs available to him in the future that would not have been available to him if Kawhi was here...wouldn't surprise me at all if Rich is in the background doing what he can to get Kawhi up out there so he can be like "well with Kawhi gone you REALLY can't afford to lose Dejounte so lets start talking extension" :myman:

Hopefully everybody gets their wish and come Thursday within the first 5 minutes of the draft we see "breaking news San Antonio trades Kawhi Leonard to......for....."

I don't understand what makes Lakers fans think they can offer the best package for Kawhi.
Just because Kawhi wants to go there doesn't mean San Antonio will do it. And the argument that Kawhi has the leverage doesn't really make sense -- at least not enough sense for the Spurs to trade him to a conference rival.

I would think that hypothetically the Spurs would take a lesser package to move him anywhere but LA. And even if Kawhi threatened not to re-sign with that team, the Lakers would be hurt by having their roster held hostage for 2018-2019 in the hopes that they can fit Kawhi in next summer.
Nope
