If only because it meets the criteria of it not being in LA(Clippers or Lakers), not being Leonard's preferred choice, and out of conference

After the stunts they allegedly pulled, it'd be an embarressment for him to step out onto the court in a spurs uniform. I wont be shocked if they try to humble him by making him play, and he can't use the injury as an excuse because he is reportedly 100% now, unless he has an unfortunate "setback".

If he re-signs in Philly then it really would just mean he had no real conviction about LA in the first place and was just using the Lakers/Clippers as a leverage play against the Spurs....yes it would be tough to not get him but they can move on. This is why those 1-year deals they signed with Rondo and the rest were smart.They left themselves with some flexibility going forward.

Once again tho...I dont think the Lakers would be sending out a bunch of youth if they were no guarantees he WOULD resign with them.....and even then they would have to get assurances from Kawhi himself and not his uncles......and they would have to get that in writing as well..

Its why I'm saying....there is little harm in waiting.....lot of downside to throwing the kitchen sink at the Spurs .

I've got my reasons to believe he'll be in LA one way or another all said and done, but let's say he's traded east and like it. Then what?

It says something when a rebuilding team accepts a package where a 28 year old is the best asset coming back and not even going to your team, it says you had a slim chance getting him in the first place.

The Toronto Raptors also generated buzz as a potential destination for Leonard. With LeBronJames out of the Eastern Conference, perhaps Raptors President of Basketball Operations Masai Ujiri is willing to swing for the fences and move DeMar DeRozan or Kyle Lowry in such a deal.

Sixers should make the trade even without commitment. They have a real chance at the finals, and losing saric and covington dont hurt as much since embiid and simmons are locked up for six years and youll have a ton of cap space
