After being shyt on by Republicans in 2016, Trump made all the Republicans in Congress kiss the ring and they beg him to campaign in their states for re-election. He scared them into not criticizing him too much for fear of Trump and his cult base turning against them. Then he forced them (and used their greed for lifetime judges) to confirm a controversial judge he wants for his own self interest in hope he will vote in Trump's favor if Mueller's case reaches the Supreme Court.

Now he is most likely going to fire Sessions after the midterms and possibly put Lindsey Graham at AG, and if the Republicans keep control of the Senate after the midterms, Graham will either fire Mueller or limit the investigation to make sure the final report doesn't reach Congress, gives Mueller a deadline to finish or he tells Mueller that Trump's family cannot be indicted. And Senate Republicans won't do shyt.
