if i'm a GM there's no question that i'd take okafor over towns barring some kind of injury. okafor is so advanced offensively and a true back to the basket player while towns reminds me of too many PF/C prospects that prefer to drift around on the perimeter instead of going inside and using their size.

I also think aside from okafor holding a little too much weight which hinders his defense, the fact that Duke has nobody else really to play the post effectively on offense is what keeps him from being a better defender. he can't afford to play aggressive D and possibly pick up fouls, cause there's literally nobody else to go inside to if he gets in foul trouble, while kentucky has like 4 or 5 legit post players that can spell towns if he gets in foul trouble...
most of town's scoring has come from the inside this year, he doesn't "drift around on the perimeter" at least not at this point in his game. He just won a game for us on a jump hook

Who are quality bigs who could slip around the 20-25 range where Houston's pick will probably land? Koufos might not be a starter on a good team, but he's a decent stop gap for a rebuilding team and he'll look like Kareem compared to Sacre. He's hungry for more playing time, so he'd be a relatively easy guy to sign. Lopez, DJ, Chandler and Hibbert are in much better situations than what they'd go to with the Lakers.

I was thinking if they traded Randle for a quality wing and drafted Towns. You think Russell or Towns has a higher ceiling? With where the Lakers are at, I want the most talented player and work out the roster afterwards.

I could be rooting for two former Buckeyes next season. :scust:

Robert Shaw was a guy i thought the lakers could target with that Houston pick but since he was suspended he may go second round or undrafted. Dakari Johnson is another guy that seems to be a late 1st round/2nd round 7'0 footer. I don't see the Lakers trading Randle though, his potential really high if he lives up to the highlights he was showing in preseason.

I'm not sure yet who will be there from 20-25, but just in the last couple years these are the big men available from 20-29 -

Rudy Gobert
Gorgui Dieng
Mason/Miles Plumlee
Jared Sullinger
Donatas Montiejunas
Taj Gibson
Serge Ibaka
Kosta Koufos
Tiago Splitter

This draft is loaded with big men and short on wings, combine that with the fact a lot of the bad teams have young big men and you could end up with some big guys who should have gone lottery being around late since wings will go early.

It's way too early to trade Randle, you really have no idea what he can do and while I don't think he has superstar potential he could be a lot like Lamar Odom. It's hard to say who has the higher ceiling between Towns and Russell, Russell has the better chance of reaching his potential since he will have the ball in his hands a lot. Also, the last quality guard the Lakers got in the draft was Kobe, and you all have been searching high and low for one.

I've been hearing Okafor being mentioned in the same breath as Tim Duncan:scusthov:. He's gonna be a good pro without question but tbh I see more of Tim in Towns games. The defense, rebounding, shooting stroke, shades of a budding post game (okafor has him beat there tho). Towns post game will be a problem 2 years down the road. Has a jump hook that would make Dwight Howard cry:mjcry:. Plus his shooting stroke is cash. I can see this dude dominating in the league. Granted he doesn't have The same post game Tim had outta college but Tim stayed all 4 years:yeshrug:. I think ppl are selling Towns short tbh. Has all the tools and coordination to be filthy in the post, and already has better range than 99% of the NBAs bigs. Lakers please make the right choice:sadcam:

I want THE best player wherever the Lakers draft, regardless of position.

yeah, i saw that hook tonight.

i honestly haven't watched a lot of towns, i was just going off the scouting reports I read earlier in the year so forgive me. I've seen too many super athletic bigs that want to be kevin durant instead of hakeem lately so i lumped him into that category as well. a dude who really fits that category though is myles turner, i thougt he would be really good but he's been pretty disappointing thus far and all he wants to do is launch treys it seems. i think he woulda fit in well at Duke but i don't think he ever wanted to really go there and have to play 2nd/3rd fiddle instead he's playing for barnes underachieving ass before he goes pro and becomes the 2nd coming of quincy miller.

his game may evolve to being mostly perimeter oriented (in the league), I'm not sure, but Cal has made him sit his ass in the post 95% of the time. A lot of that is coaching. If Turner was on our team Cal would not let him jack up perimeter shots.

If the Lakers draft Towns he can play C I believe, so you don't have to trade Randle. Towns defensive advantages mask a lot of Randle's defensive weaknesses.

D'Angelo Russell is really the only big change, he went from like mid-first round to now being top 3 and in some cases number 1.

Also, Kelly Oubre :scusthov: and Cliff Alexander are dropping like rocks, didn't like either of them to be honest.

Oubre is still top 10 on every site...don't let your hate cloud your judgement.

As far as the choice..I like Okafor better as a prospect right now.

You know Oubre is underwhelming as fukk breh and he used to be top 5, that's only going to get worse if he keeps playing the way he has, same with Alexander :Playahata:

I'm not high on Cliff as a prospect at all. He's a 6'8 center with no post moves. Oubre will ride the Lavine potential wave and go lottery. :yeshrug:
