The ONE thing i’ll say is I don’t like how he went at Talib.

Yea Yea I know its Talib and he’s become kind of a joke around here the last few years but he went in on Kanye for the MAGA shyt he was saying everything we all FELT about how Kanye was moving. Kanye said out his own mouth that slavery was a choice and realllllyyyyy thought nikkas wasn’t going to have something to say about it?

Also him saying he never liked Talib as a rapper is hypocritical and a straight up LIE seeing as he thanked Talib at the end of his first album and spoke about how much touring with Talib helped him grow AS a rapper. Not to mention working with him on multiple songs across multiple projects
Even helped Ye get some p*ssy on Get Em High

Just watched this… this shyt is nonsensical and scattered brained 70% of the time. People are telling on themselves if they think anything he said is profound :mjlol:

It's a typical rambling Kanye interview, I don't know what people expect at this point also Nore is definitely not skilled enough to get anything out Kanye

I was shocked at how long Nore was letting Kanye go on tangents for because he usually cuts people off. EFN looked checked out halfway through and I don’t blame him.

This was a great interview. Don't agree with everything he said, but at least we're seeing a dude get up there and be unapologetically himself. The one thing I don't like is how he romanticizes these Euro designers. I get that he likes fashion, but you can tell he places it higher in terms of cultural hierarchy than rapping. He even likened being called a "rapper" to being called the N word even though he referred to himself as a rapper multiple times in the interview lol

didnt like being referred to as the “first black…”. Like there is something wrong with being black. Like we shouldn’t recognize our history in this country and realize what it took to get here. Sometimes I get the vibe he wants to be white.

Yeah, I prefer the Neptunes because they were the soundtrack to my high school years but Timbaland is waaaaay more influential.

You could argue Timbaland’s peaks were from the Mid 90s to the early 2010s. And like you said, he made unknown stars because of his production. The Neptunes tried and failed to do that a few times.

The Neptunes’ peak was from the late 90s- mid 2000s. At their peak, they were untouchable. They dominated the airwaves with pop but could still make underground hip hop bangers. But like you said, they don’t have ONE album which defines their career.

They made hits but they don’t have a “Thriller”, “One In A Million”, “The Chronic”. Until then, it’s hard to put them in the conversation.

And I say this as a huge Neptunes fan.

Edit: the Neptunes did make a star out of Kelis so I was wrong there. But her debut album wasn’t as commercially successful or redefining as the albums mentioned above.
Robin Thicke also didn't become Robin Thicke until he got with Pharrell.

I would've preferred he went more into the nerdy Rap Science than the nonsensical rants. I love shyt like that :wow:

The interview kept me entertained though. Hearing him speak also made me realize how big Ye really is:dame:. I don't pay much attention to any artist outside of music so they're just regular people to me, but this man lives in a totally different world.

Couldn't have said it better. The Neptunes/N.E.R.D. (and Kanye) shaped my personality, style, and mindset growing up so I also hold them in high regard but I'm always going to choose Timbaland over almost anyone. The introduction of Aaliyah, Missy, and Ginuwine alone puts him ahead. Those albums changed Hip Hop & R&B and the influence is still evident to this day.

I also appreciate how the real ones respect Missy. Kanye said he'd cut his finger off to rap and sound like Busta yet couldn't pick him over her.
