Kanye (through mostly his own devices) feels like he has been erased from the discussions

Honestly, in this day and age, is anybody truly a megastar anymore?

I know Kendrick and Drake are cause of the beef but the beef has lowkey been carrying them in pop culture.

Future drops music then disappears. Travis has the youth on lock but isn't a lyrical rapper so he doesn't get rated on that level. Cole has lost momentum after apologizing for the beef.

I think Kanye is at a point where he's not really the type of dude people necessarily want to talk about anymore because of the antics and c00nery but his catalog still gets listened to heavily on streaming platforms. He's like a guilty pleasure artist to many people similar to Chris Brown.

I wouldn't rule out Kanye. I think he and Lil Wayne are just not at their peaks anymore but they can still catch a buzz if they want to.

Lowkey, though, I feel Wayne suffers from this much worse than Kanye.

I vividly remember when Wayne had the rap world in the palm of his hands with his albums, mixtapes, features, and even loosies shaking up the rap world and being hyped like crazy.

Then, after a while, Wayne just completely flew under the radar and stopped popping up in rap conversations out of the blue.

Even his features this decade, despite being generally decent, make zero buzz nowadays save for some. And the album with 2Chainz despite being not being bad seemed to go under the radar too. And I feel he lowkey scrapped C6.

Considering that Wayne had a higher commercial peak than Ye, I feel his falloff should be studied as well cause breh went from being flat out unavoidable to being overlooked until some drama like the whole Superbowl fiasco comes up.

Black people by and large BEEN stopped fukking with Kanye, he still has his cac and asian fanbase but they don't dictate what's hot. It's why whenever he drops something it ain't a moment like they used to be, he might even do well numbers wise but his recent joints don't have any impact any more.

I remember the hype on The Coli leading up the release of Yeezus in 2013 :wow: No solo album he released after Yeezus buzz wise came close to that 2013 album.

Blood on the leaves and Bound still today is :banderas:

Kanye has or had a HUGE CAC/Asian fanbase so him being a c00n isn't why he's overlooked. Lil Wayne is just as big of a c00n and is still loved by Black ppl.
I remember people being disappointed in Yeezus, but in hindsight it's aged really well

nah man, a lot of People on the ground still fukk with ye even despite his buffoonery and c00nery.

But I get what you're saying as far as what the media narrative, and he did that to himself.
And considering who runs the media, it should come as no surprise that there is an attempt to phase him out of any hip hop discussion :mjpls:

Maybe on the Internet but, compared to the past, Wayne feels extremely below the radar today.

I remember when a Wayne LOOSIE would be big news in the rap world and have tons of discussions and when people would play his mixtape songs like hit songs.

Wayne hasn't been at that level of hype in damn near a decade. I think C5 brought back some hype to him but it didn't last. I actually mildly enjoyed the 2Chainz project but it flew below the radar.

I think both Wayne and Ye are legacy acts at this point. They haven't been part of the rap zeitgeist in years even though they can still catch a buzz here and there.

And now you got kids online claiming Future is better than Wayne because they never experienced prime Wayne.

TLOP was the last time a Kanye drop felt like an event. Ever since then, he's been getting crazier and crazier and the music's been getting worse and worse.

I remember Wayne being treated like a god from Carter 2 until the last of the mixtapes and leaks before the Carter 3. Then when Drake and Nicki came along, it seemed like Wayne made room for them and decided to experiment instead of competing for the spotlight

I also feel the Birdman situation hurt his momentum.
