I remember getting clowned for rocking dunks 10+ years ago when nikkaz were rocking AF1s.

Had these and the other colorways in the pack and got clowned...

A few years later I sold them for a lot more than I paid for em. These joints sat on clearance racks and I was able to wait them out till they got cheaper.

The only thing Kanye can say he popularized was that preppy, slimmer cut shyt. He had nikkaz rocking pink and yellow polos..even though a handful of folk were already doing that.

this.. it was super easy to cop j's during 06 and 07. kanye started rockin aquas (and 3s 4s and 6s) and after that the hype grew a bit every year. not sure if its due to him or the younger generation that never saw MJ play just growing up and wanting to be like us. but i do remember people on his dikk everytime a pic popped up back then.

no people were NOT camping for RETRO j's in the 90s. it was a super niche market until a few years ago or so when it exploded. they only retroed after he retired.. starting 99. (minus the brief run in 94 when he was playing baseball). hell a lot of people were so turned off by the new sig shoes(15s )post retirement that they didnt cop js at all.

kalik is right dudes were more interested in the OGs and older joints til they realized the sole failed.

I don't know who started the fad but it sure as hell wasn't Kanye. The retro craze got kinda big and that included J's. Remember folk were rocking retro everything from air maxes to barkleys to whatever...they had the throwback jerseys, retro adidas outfits, etc. The J hype grew with that. Jordan brand started coming out with limited run colorways and shyt to build the hype.

breh you're overstating things..throwbacks were like 10 years ago. barkleys just started retroing this past 3 years..hell REEBOK just started retroing their own shyt within this past year. kanye was doing this in the mid 00s.
