its intellectually dishonest to say death/suicide is an option to slavery. it lets racist white people off the hook for all the atrocities they committed.
all the slaves who chose to make the best of what they had until they were "free", whether because of harriet tubman or emancipation, is why most aa are here today. same goes for black people all around the world.
plus that's not the context kanye was putting it in. he was trying to make it seem like slaves chose to be enslaved rather than to break free. self preservation is one of the strongest inherent human traits. many slaves had hope of a better life, staying with their families, or being reunited with their loved ones. i can see why so many didn't choose death.
kanye can't say shyt like this and expect black people to rock with him. white people won't trust him either. i dgaf about his music or any of his social positions. i'm angry that he's using his position to further the narrative of people that want to harm us and our future. this is one of the worst kinds of betrayal.
