Reality Check
Keepin' it 100
backup Qb's have typically been one of two ppl:
1) the young guy, that is coming up next and is just learning the system. (Aaron Rodgers)
2) the vet that is there to help the next guy, coach him up and just be there in the locker room, film room. (Matt Moore).
Kap is more than talented enough to be a back up Qb. but with the media circus surrounding him, is that type of distraction worth it for your team for a player that probably won't get much field time?
many teams didn't think so.
he does have NFL talent, there is no doubt he can play. But he's an average starter, and not too many places in the league he can actually go right now and start.
if there wasn't this media circus surrounding him I have no doubt he'd be on a team in some capacity. but for many teams, the risk wasn't worth the reward.
Teams have proven time and time again, that they will take a media circus if the player has the talent to play (Chad Johnson, Terrell Owens, etc.) shyt teams will even take on scumbags like Ray lewis if they can contribute to the win.
Same was said about Michael Vick in 2009 before the Eagles signed him. Vick and Kaep at their respective times were more than talented enough to be back-up QB's in the league and had media circuses surrounding them. So why is it that an owner to take a chance on Michael Vick, who served 23 months in a federal prison for felony dogfighting conspiracy charges but not ok for an owner to take a chance on Kaep, who would be an upgrade to most backup QB positions in the league?
