My thoughts;

I think one of the most difficult tasks for any emcee to do is create a album that gives the listener proper insight into the mind of said artist, all the while avoiding potential isolation. On Honor Killed The Samurai, Ka draws a picture of the world all too real, as well as examining his own position in the grand scheme of things.

Ka describes in the RBMA Interview, the thought process as a sort of catharsis, away for himself to release the despair within him before he sort of cracks so to speak. You will find this within the lyrics of this album. Ka's delivery showcases his state of mind. Slow , deliberate flow - never begging for your attention.

Honor Killed the Samurai is a album which imo sounds very NY. the production here exists within the outside realm of typical boom-bap. With a portion of it void of drums, which is so common in the production. Ka however allows his voice to serve as the percussion on this album.

With "Conflicted', Ka proclaim himself to have "always been conflicted'. While these stories are wrought with pain and angst, they serve as a foundation of Ka's upbringing. No glorification to be heard on Honor, however ka isn't enshrouded by condemnation. Nowhere on the song does he stray away from the dark places or people while chronicling his story.

The notion of necessity is one that surrounds Honor Killed the Samurai. With the song 'Just', Ka states 'to get what we need we did what we must'. A theme that is channel throughout the album. Ka details the trials and tribulations he has gone through and discusses the choices he was forced to make cause of it. the story is more so one of survival

This necessity is also evident in the form of time duration for the album - it being only 10 tracks, 36 minutes, some will say its too short, however imo it doesn't overstay it welcome and serves justice. I think this sorts of forces the listener to listen in a good way.

He serves as a sort of antithesis to the lyrical rappers who spit complex bars but arent really saying much of anything. each rhyme or bar serves as a kind of chain they are all link together and connected.

Its a dark album but its also one that is well thought out in the message it tries to convey
