You're talking about the rule, when people are talking about when and where the rule is applied.

Application of rules is subjective....
That level of behavior is unacceptable from a head coach period. The question is how much will this cost him not if he will pay a price at all. There's nothing subjective about implementing a punishment in response to his bad judgment here. No one at the U of M in a position of influence is gonna cosign what he did. Corporations and institutions are cowardly to begin with and won't typically stand up for anything controversial.

Maybe they just suspend him for a bit. That's the best case scenario for him.

You show me documents from the University of Michigan or NCAA that says if someone touches you then you're justified in hitting them. Where is that in any code of conduct? I'll wait.

a code of conduct that prevents me from protecting myself upon being violently accosted is one that can be happily challenged in court

Yeah Juwan lost his cool, looks like he got held back and then came back with the open hand muff/slap. At the same time he said something to the coach and clearly tried to walk away and the coach put his hands on him first and restricted him from walking past him like he would one of his players and that escalated the situation.

Juwan almost laid hands on another coach last year and had to be restrained. He was an intense player/goon in the NBA. But you have to move different as a college coach.

In his fab 5 days and even taking over for Coach B. He has brought in so much money for the university, so many highly touted recruits, this year has been a struggle because you can't keep loosing half your roster like that and rebuilding on the fly, he is still trying to adjust to that.

I hope they don't fire him and I hope he is a little more contrite for his next interview.

When you on your job it isn't "shyt happens" whatever you do on your job you answer for. Street justice doesn't apply in a workplace. If you can withdraw from a bad situation at work you get out. Protect yourself from actions that come with bad consequences before you protect yourself from a bruised ego because someone touched you.
In the workplace, you don't grab people either. Yall can stop acting like this is a case where a black person is operating on some sub-level (the streets) of anything. You don't touch people. ESPECIALLY, at work. And oddly enough, you bring up "if you can withdraw"...that's exactly what Juwan Howard was doing yeah he said something but he was just going to keep it moving. Do yall actually process the shyt yall see?

Juwan is gonna cut a check to the assistant coach. Obviously he was the richest person in the building and got it but the video is open and shut and Juwan won’t leave it up to a civil jury. If my 20 year old son caught a charge and fukked up his future backing up his coach, you better believe I’m gonna have words for the coach too and need some legal fee $

You’re missing my point

the subjective part is choosing WHEN to implement the punishment. The rules are objective, the application is subjective.

My Pops Forever RIP
now that I'm up to speed on this,

Honestly, suspending him for the rest of THIS season is doing him a favor, so if that's what he gets, he got off light. Getting him fired for this is a reach though. It was a series of bytch moves by both coaches that led to this. I don't appreciate the heads of Wisconsin asking for swift punishment like their coach handled everything well. He (and especially his staff) did not. Once you see Bard and Howard go at it, the assistants gotta get the players outta there ASAP. They work harder to keep the players from getting on the court to celebrate a big shot than they did that.

Running press down 15 against walk-ons: bytch move (game is over and they had 39 minutes to run that press and failed)
Calling time out up huge to counter that: bytch move (if they can't get the ball over, UM gets the ball back, chucks up a three, game ends)
Not wanting to shake hands: bytch move, even if Juwan had every right not to wanna shake his hand, move on and rip him immediately. Best case, it gets the players outta there.
Bard touching him to get him to either shake his hand or hear him out: bytch move. If he doesn't shake your hand, keep it moving. Juwan will say what he says in the postgame, so will you. Just explain yourself in the postgame presser and if they see each other in the B1G tournament, talk to him beforehand. Now he has a really good team where now everyone will see their hoe behavior and save their A game for them.

DX chop by the assistant: total bytch move. Where was that energy when Juwan mushed his mans?

First 6 games of next season's conference schedule for Juwan and first 3 games of this season's B1G tournament for Bard would be perfect, but these leagues don't think that way.

He’s a great recruiter and an average to above average coach, he gets suspended and the team will actually benefit from having his assistants coaching with more free reign in-game.

I truly don’t think firing him is necessary at all, a heavy suspension and fine and keep it movin.
