Honestly it's quite startling folks think Clowney is struggling because he's being asked to play OLB. As if he'd have an easier time getting to the QB at DE. Why did all of the good OLB's play end in college? There are a finite number of functional combinations of gap assignments and line techniques. There was a time when there was a real difference but there really isn't now.

Bust, really? Vernon Gholston's a bust. Clowney's been grading out as a positive in most of his games, he's playing decently especially against the run.

Is he Khalil Mack? No, but to say he's a bust is erroneous.
