Sing About Me by far. Better beat and lyrics and delivery..it's a bigger emotional climax to that album. But I gotta say, that Cole track is the best Cole track I've heard in awhile. The album was rather mixed, some good tracks mixed with head scratchers. But by the end I had kinda figured out the "concept" of the album but even still it was an impressive display by Cole. His best storytelling track in awhile. Usually I find his storytelling disappointing.

Fan of both songs....but it's Kendrick for me on this one....the beat is just so melancholy....:mjcry:...
This. The way he weaved through the three perspectives, alluding to stories told on his past projects, the gun shots, the fade away, and the implication of his own demise. It gives me chills every time I hear it.

The song took Hip Hop to another level of creativity at its time of release.

I also gotta go with Sing About Me because of personal connections to the song

4yeo is do damn somber and hopeless :mjcry: it would be like if Kendrick took verse two of SAM and stretched it out over a full song ... damn

But SAM is just too fire ...that beat ...that concept ...the execution :ohlawd:

To me a tougher comparison to SAB From Cole would be “Farewell”:wow:

Even tho the concepts are different the narratives are a bit similar

In actuality it's a trip how we trip off of colors
I wonder if I'll ever discover
A passion like you and recover
The life that I knew as a young'n
In pajamas and Dun-ta-duns
When thunder comes it rains cats and dogs
Dumb nikkas like me never prosper
Prognosis of a problem child
I'm proud and well devoted
This piru shyt been in me forever
So forever I'm a push it, wherever whenever
And I love you cause you love my brother like you did
Just promise me you'll tell this story when you make it big
And if I die before your album drop I hope -

If you've known anyone caught up in the streets, this shyt hits you like bricks. Lot of dudes don't wake up saying "aha, what grimy illegal shyt can I do today to hurt people." They're doing what they gotta do, not only to survive but to make sure those around them don't endanger them. It's a self perpetuating self destruction, but they're trying to survive. And even when they wanna get out many times they can't.
