I literally means nothing if developers don't spend years on crafting it.

This will just mean that we'll get shiny looking shovel-ware at an alarming rate.

If EA just uses the same engine and textures over and over again for about 3-4 years and they are a major distributor/developer then what hope do smaller companies have?

You'll see great games take longer to get made like a GTA cycle and more highly polished yet unfinished mechanically games get pushed out.
