the part during the movie when we see Brooks was leaving the prison, you could see that the prison was behind him. And then when we reach the part where Red was leaving the prison, and when you look at the shot, you could only see the outside of the prison, symbolizing that he has a future ahead of him.

Thats exactly how i felt. My southern cac friend has gone on for years telling me its the best movie of alltime. Id just always be like "Looks boring af". I finally gave in and watched it yesterday and was like. Thats an A1 movie.
