Reading through this thread just reminded me of all the classics I've never bothered to watch.
I might have to rearrange my schedule :patrice:

I really do think that most of his films are quite overrated and I've never really jumped on that particular bandwagon. Some directors just end up developing a cult-like following.

With that said, the opening scene to Inglourious Basterds is one of the best things ever put to film. Everything about that scene works and I will hail it as such any time it comes up.

Go head and name those better films

I'm pretty sure he was saying that his movies are usually bits and pieces taken from other movies as to pay homage to them, which is true and everyone knows it. He says it himself.

Yeah, there are a lot of things I haven't seen which are deemed classic. And there are quite a few "classics" that I've ended up watching and just going I don't really get it.

Case in point, Studio Ghibli films. When I was growing up, I watched Kiki's Delivery Service any time I could catch it. It was just flat out wonderful to me. I didn't know there were other movies coming from this studio.

Blah blah blah I get older and learn of Studio Ghibli and the love people have for My Neighbor Totoro. I just kept seeing how great it was. I watched it and didn't really get the hype. Maybe I was too old or something, idk.

I wasn't the one who used the term better because especially with film that'd be subjective. Particularly if you're a Tarantino fanboy.

Seems someone did take the time and put together quite a list of homages and allusions Tarantino makes in his movies, which again, is what I think was the point of the original comment I quoted. The dude loves movies and he loves to tell you he loves movies.

Anyway, here's that thing I was talking about:

Quentin Tarantino: The Definitive Guide To Homages, Influences And References

Movie was piff, I was really enjoying it up until the black man got raped :dahell:
They even brought a gimp out the box just to watch :why:
Maynard was watching the whole time with the :shaq: face
Even the setup was improbable. Of all the places they could've stumbled into, they just happen to waltz into the one pawn shop with a built-in fukk dungeon? :what:
Tarantino's kind of a creep :patrice:

:patrice:

that movie is almost 3hrs long....and the ONLY SCENE that stands out to you is the gay-rape scene? :snoop:
