Just started the Star Wars trilogy...and I must say..

Not a damn thang.....Started watching it at 1am and dozed off a few times.Caught most of it, tho----I think I need to start from the beginning of the series.Is The Empire Strikes Back the 2nd part of the story?

Yep its basically where the empire takes control and then the 3rd part is when the rebels ultimately defeat the empire...

Clone Wars > Ewoks vs Stormtroopers

Episode II had a clunky script, but a dope story/action - Episode VI was a mess with an amazing spacefight/Throne Room sequence at the end.

It's the 5th part of the story, that's why it says EPISODE V at the opening scrawl.

The way that I justify the heavy CGI and extra set pieces is that in the PT, we are seeing everything at it's height. We see the full Jedi Order, a full senate, extravagant royal palaces, ships, multiple species/races and and the common folk going about their everyday business. By the time Ep V rolls around, the Empire has crushed everything reminiscent of the old days and its nothing but wasteland and junk traders. If you keep this in mind and watch them in numerical order, it makes them a little better.
