The start is the toughest part. You may have to jump 10 lbs or so the first few weeks if you have been in the gym before.

I also had to do 10 reps early for awhile to avoid feeling like I was wasting time.

Yep. Born in Decatur. Grew up in the country. Back to the city for college.

If you are going 3 days a week, you add weight in a hurry. You have to tune out the jackasses that ask why you are lifting such low weight. Keep pounding our the reps/sets/days/weeks and they won't have anything to say in a month or two. :myman:

This is why I go very early in the morning. Im very self conscious about my lifting technique so that that time is the best. Barely anyone there.

Ty sir I will do this after gvt.

So how much weight am I suppose to start with?

How much rest time between set's?

SL5x5 is designed for people just getting started with lifting

best bet is list your major lifts(reps/sets/final lifted weight) from GVT come time ur making the switch

this is just my opinion, but Rippetoe's Starting Strength is >>>>>> SL5x5 in hindsight.

both are based on increasing maximum strength thresholds in as short a time possible. i just feel SS does it better(its 3x5 instead of 5x5)

as far as rest time, when it comes to strength...id say anywhere between 2-3 minutes to be real. with strength routines shyt like warmups and proper stretching become a real issue, in essence this is equivalent to HS strength routine getting kids ready for big boy athletics(football, wrestling, track, baseball etc)
