Nah breh. After Bruce kills the first kid he has a flashback were he's with his wife in bed and then he starts hearing a baby crying.

Then they never went back to it :mindblown:

I saw this yesterday so its fresh. Nah, ya'll are right. I was wondering where they were going with that as well, but it never resurfaced. :yeshrug:

Just saw this tonight and only because i LOVE a decent time travel flick will i say this movie was good. It could have been so much greater tho, it had SOOO much potential. I tend to compare all similarly structured time travel flicks to BttF, and they could have easily set this movie up to do a great trilogy. SO lemme start with the ending. I really hated the ending...:mindblown:

I hated the easy out of Joe killing himself. I similarly disliked Young Joe trying to damn hard to go against HIMSELF! :what: I'mma tell yall right now, if my future self shows up and tells me what has to be done i'm not arguing. That being said i think one of two things could have changed this whole thing for the better. Either one of the Joes kills Syd and then you go from there trying to get Old Joe back home in a time machine or he disappears from the future being changed...in either event in the next movie you could show then dealing with the shocker...Syd was switched at birth so he's not the real kid who grows up to be the Rainmaker. I actually thought they were gonna go this way for a split second when they was talking about Sara not being his mom. I just knew the shocker was gonna come after Old Joe leaves/disappears and we find out Sara was lying the whole time.

The second thought i had about how this movie could have been greater is i thought Young Joe was either going to kill Old Joe and raise Syd with Sara or talk Old Joe into not killing Syd and then raising him. Either way the thought behind that being Young Joe can't bring himself to kill a kid and also realizes Syd could be raised to not become a monster. The next movie would set up with Young Joe in love with Sara and realizing Syd needs a father figure helping to raise him. Old Joe either accepts his new life in the past or he leaves/disappears to the future after killing all the Gatmen AND Young Joe fully accepting the challenge to change Syd.

The fact that they went with a linear, "what happens to me, happens to you" type of time travel instead of a branching new timeline type deal was very....peculiar to me. Like i said, SOOOO much potential that went wasted.

*rewatches scene*

Yall ain't cray, definitely a baby crying BUT its not clear its their baby they hear crying. It does heavily insinuate it tho as the whole surroundings in that flash are seemed changed as if he had changed the future at least... so yea i think that scene is out of place for some reason. :manny: I'll have to head on over to IMDB to investigate this one.

Knee grow please, it wasn't all posted as trilogy. Just a better way to set-up for that if they chose too and at the very least a couple of better endings than the one they went with.

anyone feel like that eventhough young joe killed himself at the end it still did not stop rise of the rainmaker?

Props for the dude who said that joe was the original rainmaker. Yea he doesn't have the powers of the kid but he could become the rainmaker in the future it would probably take him longer since he doesn't have the powers of the child but still would happen.

Reading this thread my theory: joe is the original rainmaker...man who controls the loopers in the past is sent back to stop/kill him but makes him a looper (gives him purpose/makes him a looper)....joes actions causes the young kid to become the rainmaker.

The point is you cannot change the past and the rainmaker will be created no matter what you do to try to change the past

Dope ass movie. Jeff Daniels had me dying , Piper :whew:

Of course JGL and Bruce were great too.

I was expecting him killing himself in the end because they made it priority to always show how their pain and stuff is connected.

God...so sick of these moral faggish movies. I mean yeah the movie had kid killing but the ending was so cliched :snoop:

Built up all that goodness to end in a bull shyt "the child is strong, the child overpowers us, the child is dangerous" type movies. :why:
