Like I told some you nighas before I'm gone say it again. My history does not begin with slavery in America. Its like the only excuse nikkas got to see them shyt. Ya can let slavery define ya'll but I aint and I sure wont give them my dollar to profit of that shyt. When they make a movie bout kingdoms in Africa or African folklore and or Fantasy then I'm going to watch it.

Niccas are ridiculous in here....this was a HONEST-FACTUAL film about a mans accounts of what happened to him that was presented with quality and respect of the tone that time frame existed....

Django showed a slave ridin bare-back through the prairie on his way to "Candy Land", kill all the slave-owners, blow up the plantation, and ride off with the LEO's clothes like shyt is sweet...:laff:

Do yall realize how fukking stupid it is to attempt to shyt on this movie (which is an objectively great film) because you don't like the Hollywood constantly makes films about Slavery (which isn't even remotely true by the way)?

no, no they do not

i had to get on a friend of mine for spreading this same bullshyt line of thinking.

If you dont want to see a slave movie, fine. I get it. To say "there are too many slave movies" or "why they gotta make black people look weak during that time" is completely stupid.

And the crazy fukking thing is it wasn't that long ago that when talking about Django nikkas was like "It's about time Hollywood made a film about slavery."

And since yall want to be on that bullshyt, how come yall hyping up the blaxploitation fantasy Django (a film created by a white director/writer who loves to toss around the word nikka) but make it a point to shyt on an accurate historical drama about the horrors of slavery (written and directed by black men).

Yeah, there's definitely some c00nin going on, but it's not by fans of the movie or the filmmakers.......

Niiga please. I can't speak for everyone else, but I did shyt n Django ( in real life) I never saw that shyt cause I'm not falling for the Tarantino okie doke and I'm not supporting no bullshyt ass slave movie. Same reason that I didn't see the Butler, or The Help. Hollywood was hyping all them shyts up. Why don't they hype up a films that show us in positive lights, positions of power, etc... Movies like that may exist, but they don't garner the buzz and attention that these recent slave and servant movies have.

And I don't care if it's written by a black man, filmed by a black director. That movie is OWNED by a white man. I'm not gonna let these nikkas have no part in telling me my history.

I will watch Eyes on the Prize 3700 times before I watch some bullshyt Hollywood depiction of my people. Where is all the positive shyt at.

Or they could make a movie where, hundreds of years ago, Africans take ships to America, steal white people, pack them on ships like sardines, with no regard for their life, get them back to Africa, overwork them, rape them, keep them uneducated, attempt to condition them, use religion as a tool against them, beat them to death if they try to escape, and make public spectacles of them. Then the continent of Africa can become wildly successful due to the work of the enslaved white people building it. Then they will still continue to treat whites unequally, even when slavery is abolished. And then, the Africans will make films depicting the white peoples history, and it will be cool with whites because a white person wrote it:comeon:

I would buy a ticket to that:ehh:

Why the fukk would a black person want to watch a movie on slavery? I'm with OP. Some of the recent black movies with "buzz" are The Help, The Butler, Django, and now this 12 Years a Slave shyt. Man, fukk that.

We need to educate ourselves on our own history, using our own resources. So all that historical relevance talk is bullshyt. Movies are made for entertainment purposes. We can educate ourselves about slavery. And when has Hollywood not distorted the truth anyway?

What the fukk do I look like supporting the white establishment continually making movies depicting how they shytted on us? I don't care that the director is black. fukk that nikka too for making a fukking slave movie, while some fat ass white execs make more money than you do off that shyt.

Where are the black action heroes or super heroes (They had Hancock simping a white bytch :dahell:) Where are the positive black family shows like The Cosby's at? Where are the movies where black people enslave white people, beat them, rape them, get rich off them, and nothing happens? Now there's a movie I would go see.

fukk supporting my movies highlighting the harrowing plight of my people funded by the same people that enslaved us in the first place. I'll gladly go support something that shows us in a positive light. Muthafukkas still trying to condition us and shyt. We gotta choose between this type shyt and Tyler Perry movies. Naw, fukk that

How you feel about After Earth? The Will Smith movie? which was basically a black made movie and funded by his production studio Overbrook Entertainment. That movie showed us black people in a positive light in the future. Wasn't the best made movie out there but it wasn't as bad as they made it seem either.

more money
I am very grown actually. Now, how many times Hollywodd gonna fund those same slavery movies ? Passion of Christ was all factual but the Jews didn't allow another to come out and blackmailed Gibson right ? Has there ever been a mainstream movie about the Holocaust ?

I mean, it's all history and fact right ?

Should I grow up some more ?

Yea breh, shindlest list for one, it was pretty big at the time to.

I hear you though, we need more movies where we arnt portrayed as slaves. We wernt born on slave ships, we had powerful and wealthy nations before slavery, in fact the richest king in the history of our planet was west africa, lets not forget about all the kingdoms, nations, and knowledge reserves (e.g. the great timbuktu library) we had either. We need movies that show more positive, powerful aspects of our history so we can uplift.

Japan, but from the 989
It's not our total history but it did happen. Sadly our education system glosses over the injustice that slavery really was. I still haven't seen it and I kinda don't want to. But I will sooner or later. Our challenge today is to make sure that the people who went through this are honored by what we achieve today by our actions.

The irony is this is the first true honest depiction of slavery in a movie BASED on slavery.

I keep hearing that Hollywood KEEPS making slavery movies. Thats not true:

Amistad-courtroom Docudrama with the backdrop of the slave trade
Lincoln-biopic of the man, set during his last 5 months in office during the Civil War
Django-Spaghetti western featuring a slave
Roots-a mini series not a movie and also was made 35 years ago
Mandingo and the rest-blaxpoitation movies with the backdrop of slavery.

Where are all of these tons of slavery movies? this is the first accurate Hollywood full feature length movie based inside of slavery, feauturing the plight of slaves during slave times possibly EVER. Ive been waiting for a movie to show the atrocities of slavery with no bullshyt. Showing the true savages (yt) as they were. Black director, black writers and based on a black book.
