@OSUBaneBrowns if you really care about that kinda stuff the tag's $2k price tag gets you a $35 movement (allwatchparts.com/Harley-Ronda-5040D-Watch-Movement_p_1448.html), tudor's is off the shelf too but at least they did some work to it. also we might push you away from the tag but i feel like that's still an aspirational brand a lotta non internet watch nerds would be familiar with.
the tudor looks feminine af imho, i'm pronoun gang and would still never rock that :picard:

+1 to saving up for a rolex, with this economy people are gonna empty out their safes and datejusts will be the first to fall below retail
When I look and wore the Tudor in person, I didn’t think that it was feminine but after a night to sleep about it, if I’m going to buy a day date, I rather have to official one from Rolex or someone else. Probably going to keep looking around, fall back or just get something cheaper since this watch is not going to be a daily timepiece.

What are yall’s opinion on Cartier watches? I’m a pretty prolific collector of their glasses (just got the 2023 red woods :ohlawd:) and have desired a watch to match. I am historically not a watch guy and just wear casio throwbacks at the moment.

What can you tell me about their craftsmanship and quality?

Good rep and holds their value. I would only rock their classic rectangular joint they known for tho and it wouldn't be a daily.

Does Cartier make the watch themselves?

If it doesn't, id research who makes it and buy it directly from them. Im assuming someone makes the Cartier watch.

My budget is around 2-3k. I’m still undecided and looking around at other options or to stay put for now. Also, I need to find out how much I need to pay for some dental expenses so I may fall back if this dental work is going to be too high.
No need spend so much money on a watch (that you don't even like that much) if your budget is constrained by medical expenses, don't rush into anything. Like @sayyestothis said you can get a cool watch (Tissot, Hamilton) for fraction of the money.

But if you want to get a watch in 3k range you can get something much better which you can later resell for a Rolex. But again looks/preferences are subjective:

Also in 3k range you can find newer versions of Seamaster Pro.

They make their own eyewear, which is unique in that industry. I'll look into it regarding their watches.
different parts are made by other companies under richemont which is as good as ur gonna get unless u pick some totally vertically integrated company like seiko/rolex. afaik all their shyt is still made in europe unlike other many other "swiss made" companies, i'm looking at you and your chinese bracelets omega. :umad:

most have basic movements but ur buying a carti for the design, the prestige, the flashiness, so who cares? if seeing a quartz watch tick would be annoying or make you look poor u can get one without a seconds hand.

this insane cac sums up my thoughts on cartier (watch on 1.5x speed)

I was impressed. The weight was good, the ability to switch bands and remove links seemed easy, and the details were impressive tbh. IDK if its worth $11,300, but it was nice for sure. I think my eyes will remain on it...
It's that small gold bezel that takes it from being 7k to $11k :francis:

Getting the Rollie is a long term goal and something I would try to do when I further along with my career and salary. A part of me is telling myself just stick to the watches that I got now since I don’t really go out that much and neither watch would be a daily wearer, only for special occasions.

I have no issues with quartz watches but if I’m paying a lot of money for a timepiece, I would prefer a mechanical one so I’m having 2nd thoughts on the TAG. The Tudor looks nice to me but at the same time, it’s not a Rolex. It maybe better just to fall back for now or get something much cheaper.
I second what the other poster said. You can find a nice automatic Tissot or Seiko for under $1000 that won't get you any sideways looks. Use the leftover time and money to really research what you want your first luxury watch to be. Go to boutiques, check them out in person, etc.

Nothing wrong with spending bread on a quartz but I'd say just do your research. Quartz are good for get up and go, accuracy, and just being a 'workhorse' so it just depends what your needs/wants are out of a watch. Also, IMO there's a difference between spending $2000 on a quartz Grand Seiko vs a quartz Tag Heuer :hubie:

true, but half my cartiers are gold, half are platinum so it makes sense for me...

$4000 worth of gold though :patrice: i hear you :russ: lmao
I'm not a gold fan at all but on a Santos it just pops really nicely :whoo: makes a huge difference.

I couldn't find any on second hand market, only one with a full rose gold case for 14k.

tbh for only $1000 off i'd rather get the 8 year warranty and buy it from a local jeweler. But, I'll keep my eyes peeled for deals. good lookin out
