Just picked up my first "timepiece."

Looking to buy my first watch, is Movado a respectable brand

I personally would stay far far away from Movado, if you have to get one, buy one used, they lose like 60% of their value instantly and even at that point still tough to get rid off.

How's the build quality on these watches? I was browsing their website, and they've got some pretty neat designs

Surprisingly very good, I want to get a M2 as well. A couple friends are watch collectors as well and they were all impressed when they seen it in person as well. 1 even purchased a P2-1 after seeing my P3. If you have a local reseller, check them out, you will be impressed. Even their box is pretty amazing, I can dig it up if you want to check it out

Just buy whatever you like and fits your style. Movado is a respectable brand and they have history. Unless your gonna get into really expensive watches then I wouldn't even care about retaining or losing value. Just wear what you like

This is true, I mean a lot say the same about TAG as well. But if your not against doing so, I would highly suggest buying a movado/tag 2ndary market. Those 2 brands take a huge hit in price depreciation, I would much rather have someone else take that hit then me. Do some shopping around, if you keep coming back to the same watch, go for it.

Haha yeah thinking about Ebaying it off. Would look a lot better smaller imo with less distractions.

That's diesel for you, giant pieces of poo. I have seen a couple I like but man they took "busy" and "huge" faces to the extreme.

Why ebay it off, let her know its to big for your wrist and return it.. You will probably lose 60% of the msrp trying to sell it on ebay.

Not really a fan of "fashion" watches because of these exaggerated aesthetics, but who am I to judge.

I have a Movado and I wear it all the time. I love their simplistic design.

Don't listen to these dudes talking about depreciating value. That watch is only $170; they sound ridiculous.

after going back and forth with so many, i'm down to 2 watches and 2 beaters. my latest is the g-shock on the left...
when i got the tag i just wouldn't wear anything else so i sold the other 3 i had (a tissot couturier, a victorinox and a citizen eco).
until i saw that g-shock.

super picky but i like shopping for beaters for some reason. love the timex weekenders and the seiko 5's.
the one on my wrist i got from walmart
that fossil, maaaad old...i wanted to throw it away but i decided to get a nice hirsch band for it and salvage it
