I remember these from college art classes..they insisted these figurines were European. Insisted they were fertility figurines, hence what the racist bytch lecturer claimed were their exaggerated forms with the wide ass hips and huge butts. They look like African women to me. Nothing about these figurines, which are the oldest ever found in Europe is European. I refuse to believe these were created by cavemen..

Yes 99 bucks for ancestry.com the cool thing about that is it will find distant relatives youvmay gave on the site, once you get your ancestry results you upload them to gedmatch.com which shows all the detailed stuff

Wait, so is the ancestry piece based on you doing one of those trees or do you send them blood/saliva or whatever for them to test your DNA? I've been wanting to do this, but I was gonna use 23 and Me, but they got shut down

I don't want to discourage people from doing it, but please understand the implications of said act. You are voluntarily giving your genetic sequencing to be tested. Don't think it's not going into a database and being stored (accessed by law enforcement). In addition corporations are buying that information to make money off of. There's a term call "gene hunters", who go around trying to cash up off of that. You could have some genetic marker that could literally bring in billions for them - especially when marketed towards us. Not saying don't do it, just make certain you read the fine print and ask questions.

Ive always been weary of doing any of these studies because I always wondered "well if they have that info...what are they doing with it afterwards & why do I have to pay so much for them to put my fluids into a machine?"

Same here. I have been wanting to try this out for a while but I want to know if its legitimate and what they will do with my information and DNA after its finished.

These tests are good to check out, but its important to consider that the African countries that come up use post colonial borders and sizes. Ancient Mali and Ghana are not in the same locations as they were 600-1000 years ago.

I wanted to do this until someone mentioned that they match you with your relatives. I know for sure there are white people a ways up my gene line and the thought of one of them reaching out to me makes me immensely sad and grossed out. I want to know but I dont.

Looks like a mixed between a Khoi San and East African.

I mailed my test on Jan 13, they started test on Jan 26, got results today. My girl got her results much faster but she is generationally African American, her results actually pulled up 2-3 cousins, while all my results on ancestry were for 5-8th cousins, so I assume more than likely those are from my ancestors that were slaves, because one of them was some White looking PR cat.
